I bet the Rays to win the series at +160 so I enjoyed it too. Now just need playoff Kershaw to do his thing in game 5

Doesn't show the Arozorena fall/tumbling front flip. This game was FUN!

Analytics don't really "backfire" as I don't think an analytic has been invented that gives you a 100% chance to win a game.

analytics say take Snell out when hes facing the lineup a 3rd time and everyones losing their minds cause what he did before =/= what he will do after.

Regular season starts:
5IP, 5.1, 5, 6, 5.2

Something like that is what I saw. Why is everyone so surprised?

I will say the other analytic though is Mookie Betts had the lowest OPS against lefties in the MLB so Snell should have got a crack at him.

Could be wrong on that last one as maybe it was only postseason but that was eye opening to see as well.

That has to be post-season only, which I'd mostly ignore.

Old man rant, analytics are fucking stupid sometimes. World Series and your ace is mowing them down and you pull him at 71 pitches because of a single. Win or lose with your best guy.

Do people not realize that avg, hr, rbi, runs, etc are all analytics? People just use better stats to take advantage of inefficiencies

Also Snell isn’t an Ace. Ace is an overrated term as there isn’t even 30 pitchers worthy of being the #1 SP in the MLB

The big thing tho is TB is 100% analytics and they truly don’t give a shit if a good SP is sad and leaves. Snell was never being resigned by the Rays with their budget so better to just keep the process that got a 25 mil budget to the World Series over Twitter banter over 1 situation.

Didn’t Snell win the Cy Young last year? Seems like ace or fitting

2018. Tim Lincecum won 2 cys and wasn’t even in the MLB at like 30. One year doesn’t mean shit to the next.

Lincecum won his back to backs in 08 and 09. He was top 10 in voting the next 2 years. He was diagnosed with a degenerative hip disease in '15, at 31. Using that example and jumping from 08 and 09 to "at like 30," 5 years and a major issue later, is a far cry from "one year to the next."

Cool. Snell still isn’t an ace.

0.6 fWAR this year. Watch outtt ace material. You know who had a better war? Nick Anderson

Also Glasnow, Morton, are more “aces” than Snell

3.24 era, 4.5ish FIP.

Tony LaRussa was just hired to be the manager of an MLB team.

In other news, what year is it?

This Justin Turner COVID story is kind of wild with how it started and is unfolding.

As a Sox fan I'm not sure I like this hire. Really young team with an old manager

Its a brutal signing but it’s par for the course with sports.
