Headed down to Stilly for bedlam this weekend. It will be a crisp 20 degrees at the 11:30 kickoff.
Should be an interesting game. I need to root for OU to beat OSU and then Texas to beat Baylor for my boys to win the conference outright. But that comes at the price for actually rooting for OU. Plus if Tex somehow manages to slowdown Baylor and win that game(which I have serious doubts we can, Macks job is 100% safe for another year and that would be the worst thing that could happen to that program. Time for him to move on and find a new coach that is still connected to his players and has the drive to bring UT back to relevance.
My prediction is that OSU beats OU by 10 and Baylor beats UT by 17 and all this was for not....FML!

You've got another 3+ weeks of it. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.

Sarkisian to USC after what he called a phone conversation and "not really an interview."

Have been in the Northwest during football season? USC is an easy choice.
Indoor facility is still cold inside...

I haven’t been there but I’ve always been fascinated by that area of the country. I have a lot of cousins that went to the Univ. of Oregon. I’m sure after about 10 minutes of freezing my ass off I’d be out of there.

That's not exactly a "home run" hire. More like a stand up double. It seems like USC is grasping at straws here.
"Hey, are there any moderately successful guys out there coaching who were here when Pete Carroll was? Sarkisian? OK let's hire him. "

I thought the A&M guy would be a good go after but then he inked the extension.
Saban may still entertain Texas.
Peterson's stock has come down in Boise.
Same a little with Patterson in TCU.
Any up and comers like the guy at Northern Illinois or something like that?
Who else is really out there?

High chopper over the pitcher's head that gets bobbled by the shortstop but still gets the infield single by the official scorekeeper.

Let's be honest here. Washington was terrible before he took over. They were 0-12 in 2008. He did a pretty darn good job and that projects well with the talent USC has and can get.

But its USC.
Is it still considered to be a top 5 program type job anymore?
Id say the top 5 are:
Alabama
Texas
USC
Oklahoma
Ohio State
I guess you could interchange Nebraska, Oregon, Florida or Florida State, LSU, in that 5 spot.
Hell, a top 5 is pretty tough.

Listening to Coach O speak is one of the greatest things going in CFB right now.

I want Tressel. And of course every coaching thread requires a mention of Gruden. Fitzgerald at Northwestern was killing it up until this year. Georgia fans seem to hate Mark Richt so he could be easy to pull away. Maybe Kirby Smart? Mike Dantonio? There are options better than Sark, but this really isn't a good year to be looking for a coach. USC could have gotten a two-for-one deal on the Pelini bros. though.

Michigan replaces Oklahoma in your top five imo.

Cnasty wrote:Lets here from the Alabama medical statistics on how many heart attacks occurred during the last 2 weekends in Auburn on how their games finished.
My mom had some stress related health issues a couple years ago, she has since retired and hasn't had any more problems. My grandmother couldn't get her on the phone and called me to make sure she was ok after the game Saturday. I kind of laughed because my great grandmother used to call a friend of hers and jokingly check in on him after a close game. My grandmother was serious though. I don't doubt that there were more than usual over the past couple games though.
As for the whole luck thing, you can call the Georgia game whatever you want. Saturday one team was prepared to win the game on that last play and one wasn't. I don't consider that lucky. Luck doesn't cause breakdowns in coverage, or block punts and kicks, run for 300 yards on the best defense in college football, stuff fourth down attempts, and it doesn't pull a guy during a timeout then call for a return on a long field goal. To call what Auburn did on Saturday lucky is an insult to the effort put forth by both teams in that game. It was an incredible game, the best game I have ever been to or even seen for that matter. The bottom line is the better coached and better prepared team won.

OU is too one dimensional to win in stillwater. Without threat of the fwd pass I don't see anyway they can win. Osu's d is too tough for that. I think you're spot on with the Baylor game. They will definitely run the qb which has been their Achilles this year.

I disagree with most people about the USC hire... I think Sarkisian is going to have the Trojans in the national title picture within 4 seasons.

I agree, he turned over a HORRID UW program before he got there, they have been a ton better, and he KNOWS USC and the lifesytle and the kids around there, I think he has them playing for a NC within 4 seasons as well.
Peterson and USC couldn't agree on things, not sure what they were, but I AM GLAD they didnt' hire him, I think his stock has gone till, it's more of a "what have you done for me lately" I mean Steve rushed his Boise team this season haha.
I think Sumlin was a great NO HIRE actually, not that they could of got him, cause he re inked a signing, but I still don't think he was a good ccoach for USC....their defense has already been bad.
Coach O....did anyone watch ESPN this morning? The SEC Columist for ESPN said he is the "worst head coach in SEC history" hahaha, so I guess it was smart move by USC? Haha, I don't think he was the answer in SoCal either, I think Steve knows what USC is like, and he has been there before, I think he will make there offense better, and the word is he is bringing his staff with him, which will make the defense better without question.
The real question is who do the Huskies go after? Maybe Eastern Washingtons Beau Baldwin? Just a thought, I am sure they will have a list of guys already, cause if Steve didn't win that Cougar game, I am not sure Washington didn't think it was time for a new guy, which would of bene a HORRIBLE decision by them.
