we aren't making top 7, unless A LOT of things happen, 1 being Netherlands losing which they are up 1-0 right now.
two, if we lose to panama with the C team were putting out and Costa Rica beat Mexico, then Goal Diff. will be used to decide the 4 seed who plays new zealand.

Even if we don't, top 16 keeps us from being in the third pot. Whatever helps the US advance out of the group easier is what we should shoot for.
If Mexico makes it, then they make it. They won't advance.
It's so hard to think anybody will beat Brazil in Brazil....but I think the WC winner will come from a group of Brazil, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, or (ugh) Germany. I think Spain's infighting and lack of a striker will be their downfall.

dumbass, there is no third pot... Only the top 7 plus brazil are seeded. after that, pots are done by geography. likely seeded pot, rest of euro pot, asia/north america pot, rest of south america/africa pot.
No group can have more than 2 european teams and no group can have more than 1 team from a specific region.

Also confirmed seeds for WC: Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium
If Colombia wins tonight vs Paraguy, they will be seeded.
If Uruguay wins tonight vs Argentina, they will be seeded.
If 1 of them loses, Netherlands will be seeded.
If both of them lose, Italy will be seeded.
Italy shot themselves today by tying Armenia at home.

So lets say Colombia wins tonight but Uruguay loses. Seeds would be:
Pot 1 (seeded):
Brazil
Spain
Germany
Switzerland
Belgium
Argentina
Colombia
Netherlands
Pot 2 (rest of Europe):
Italy
Bosnia and Herzegovina
England
Russia
4 Playoff winners
Pot 3 (rest of SA and Africa):
Ecuador
Chile
Uruguay
Ghana
Ivory Coast
Nigeria
Burkina Faso/Algeria
Tunisia/Cameroon
Pot 4 (NA and Asia):
USA
Costa Rica
Honduras
Mexico
Iran
Japan
Australia
South Korea
South American teams from Pot 2 won't be drawn in groups with SA teams from Pot 1.
In the european playoffs, two teams will play eachother home and home, winner to the world cup:
seeded teams: Portugal, Croatia, Ukraine, Greece
unseeded teams: France, Iceland, Romania, Sweden
Oh yeah, and they might get a commitment from Adnan Januzaj, United's 18 year old wunderkid.

That's because....well....he probably was thinking that
The Panamanians didn’t necessarily understand why the Americans kept pushing in the final minutes. Without the late goals, Mexico, the Yanks’ archenemy, would have been out of the World Cup instead.
According to ESPNFC.com's Roger Bennett, who was in Panama City, the hosts were begging the U.S. to take it easy as the night wore on.
"I told them 'I got to play hard to get to Brazil,'" midfielder Kyle Beckerman told Bennett.

Thats why a lot of these guys were pushing hard. They had to show that they are worthy of A team roster spots. Watching the game was just fucking brutal and heartbreaking for Panama though.

Mexican reaction to the US win as it happened. The translation is pretty hilarious.
