Fuuuuuuuuck.

Patients will ask me how old I am, I usually turn it around on them and ask them how old they think I am. Almost invariably its "Well, youre definitely younger...early 40's?"

Im 32.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, whose expert advice to President Trump has resulted in the complete shutdown of the greatest economic engine in world history, has known since 2005 that chloroquine is an effective inhibitor of coronaviruses.

How did he know this? Because of research done by the National Institutes of Health, of which he is the director. In connection with the SARS outbreak - caused by a coronavirus dubbed SARS- CoV - the NIH researched chloroquine and concluded that it was effective at stopping the SARS coronavirus in its tracks. The COVID-19 bug is likewise a coronavirus, labeled SARS-CoV-2. While not exactly the same virus as SARS-CoV-1, it is genetically related to it, and shares 79% of its genome, as the name SARS-CoV-2 implies. They both use the same host cell receptor, which is what viruses use to gain entry to the cell and infect the victim.

The Virology Journal - the official publication of Dr. Fauci’s National Institutes of Health - published what is now a blockbuster article on August 22, 2005, under the heading - get ready for this - “Chloroquine is a potent inhibitor of SARS coronavirus infection and spread.” (Emphasis mine throughout.) Write the researchers, “We report...that chloroquine has strong antiviral effects on SARS-CoV infection of primate cells. These inhibitory effects are observed when the cells are treated with the drug either before or after exposure to the virus, suggesting both prophylactic and therapeutic advantage.”

US dead from Covid over 60k?

Meh, we lost less in Vietnam but we should have right to peacefully assemble! It isn’t that bad right? More deaths than the flu in a 3 month period, gafah...

It's a stupid comparison to be honest. War is War, and if you really wanted to count the 58K+ then lets count the 2M+ that died from agent orange, suicide, etc...

Would you say 58k is a large number? Too many to lose regardless of reason?

It’s actually 70k+ now in the US. Number to number is too many and opening up the economy and such will make it larger.

All I said is you can't compare numbers from an epidemic to a war. It's like comparing grapes and battleships

Not opening up doesn't make this magically go away, it just spreads out the deaths.

Unless we did a literal shutdown for a really long time.

IF people really want a shutdown then give them one weekend to get to the store and buy their essentials for a couple of weeks. Close all the stores and businesses afterwards. These same people that want a shutdown are out there going to Lowes to buy paint and stuff to do at home, after work mind you. This is not a shutdown or shelter in place, it's big businesses getting away with selling products or services while small businesses cant pay their bills. If Target is open (not one that sells food) then a hairdresser should be able to cut hair. Either we take it completely serious and close everything down or we get on with our lives.
