Re: NBA Thread
- don't remember me saying you called lebron dumb. also, thats not 'exactly whats he's shown', thats your opinion. i think lebron has a high basketball iq and i think his assist ratio and his teams performance despite a lack of talent has shown just the opposite. i think Lebron makes incredible decisions in transition and while he gambles a little in the passing lanes, there was never a guy who gambled in passing lanes like MJ and Scotty. so you have your opinion and i have my opinion. opinions are worthless.
- PER is an efficiency rating that is reflective per possession. it takes into account pace of the game, shots taken per team, etc. not sure what your trying to say there. Lebron being a bigger part of the Cavs is actually a compliment to him since he's putting up those incredible numbers in a way that is efficient. also, kobe is just as big a part of his offense as Lebron is his. either way you dont have to be a big part of a team to have a high PER. in VERY limited sample size, Greg Oden had a very high sample size and hes far from the focus of the Trailblazers
- i have absolutely no clue how you can say Lebron lost the series for the Cavs... thats just a ridiculous statement.
- we've already established that PER isn't the end all be all answer. but its clearly a better metric then anything else thats out there and certainly better then our opinions. we can all agree it does a good job giving a pretty fair value on players efficiency. like you stated earlier, it doesn't quantify defense as well as it should. with all that said, there is still isn't anything Kobe does better then Lebron in any way you try to analyze it other then ft %. i still don't get where the 3pt part comes into play here anyways. you're trying to nitpick something for the sake of your side of the argument and it has no reflection on anything we're talking about.

Reign, can you elaborate on this???
I'm thinking by every measure I can think of, lebron has shown the opposite of what you're saying over his career.

9 and 5 in the 1st quarter.DRiccio21 wrote:Blake Griffin is a monster
Pissed I had to work, I wanted to watch him tonight.
Also good to see the Hornets get a W and Paul drop 16 assists with only 1 turnover. Nice having him healthy this year.
Re: NBA Thread
Griffin is a stud..
If Wade has another great PER year.....and Lebron keeps this shit up of 17 turnovers in 2 games....Wade should pass James on the PER list, meaning 90210 could be right..
But Im just going by PER here.
Lebrons basketball IQ is average....

Clippers are fun to watch this season. they have absolutely no bench, but the starters are pretty sick.
Yao not playing in back to backs all season and limited to 24 minutes during the games he's playing. seems like they'd be better off just resting him til the last couple months of the season and let him play then instead of this shit thats gonna mess with the team continuity.

Re: NBA Thread
this new technical foul rule is ridiculous.
any type of hand throwing up or complaining is a tech. lol. riiiiiight. i watched Wade and Kobe complain all last night and i dont believe either got tech'd. yet tonight a couple rookies do it and Boom! tech.
that is just another way for the NBA refs to throw games a little easier.

Re: NBA Thread
Dave, did you hear the intro to LeBatard today?
It was EPIC!!!
They had like an emergency alarm going off and LeBatard was just going one liner after one liner on the Heat, freaking hilarious.
"The kingdog is crumbling"
"There's a shelter in Philadelphia"
"Eddie House is on the loose"
"Blame Randy Shannon" LOL
"1King and 2 guys who can't make a basket"
"More turnovers than groupies"
"When did Dwyane Wade become Mo Williams"
"Why is Dwyane Wade wearing a Mo Williams mask"

Lebron is the best player on the Heat. He just is man, lol.
You gotta remove that bias to see it.

I don't get how anyone could think Kobe would beat Lebron 1 on 1. It makes no sense.
Lebron is by far the most unstoppable 1 on 1 player in the league. He is completely unguardable.
ReignOnU wrote:He's a very selfish player that doesn't understand how to make his team better.
When things don't go right, he just ball hogs and tries to do it all himself.
Everyone wants to point the finger and say that he did it in Cleveland because they didn't have anyone to help him. That's just not true. On many occasions he ignored the open man and tried to force his way to the basket or pulled up for a 28' Sportscenter 3 pointer.
So, in your experiences watching all these games, you NEVER thought the same things about Kobe ever? Especially when he had a subpar supporting cast?

Re: NBA Thread
- About Lebron's IQ... I mentioned it earlier, he doesn't understand spacing/movement and forces too many of his shots. Don't confuse making a great pass/finding the open guy in traffic with having a high basketball IQ. Lebron has exceptional vision. I look at basketball IQ has knowing what to do, when to do it and how to do it. (something like catching the defense in a poor rotation and passing to gain an advantage, not just making a tremendous pass, it's the basic pass at the right time.
- About the 1v1... Kobe's outside shooting and ability to create a shot with a player on him is better than Lebrons. 1v1 is a half court game. When someone D's Lebron up, he doesn't resort to individual moves, he chucks bad shots. Defensively, Kobe has quicker feet and plays better 1v1 defense. Yes Lebron is bigger, but he's big move is to lower his shoulder and slice to the hoop. It's defensible by someone with faster feet. Here's a fun read btw: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=5680638
- As for Kobe being a ball hog... he's figured out how to trust his teammates. Lebron @ 25, is where Kobe was. The difference is, Kobe has matured and been able to do his damage with in the scheme of things. You can put it on the coaching/the quality of team, whatever, but Kobe does utilize his team better.
- PER calculation... the 1st step is involves running factor's against the teams Ast/FG, which in turn benefits outstanding players with poor producing teammates. It's after that point that the PER gets adjusted against the league for pace of the game.
- Lebron losing the series for the Cavs... when your star player takes a game off, that's a good indication that he lost the series for them.
- The 3pt comments... you said that if he forced shots, it would be reflected in Lebron's shooting percentages. I explained to you that it was. (He shoots something like 32%.) I also explained how 3pt % isn't properly factored into PER and how 2pt % can drive the PER higher than normal.

you win.
i don't want to do this anymore.
like i keep saying... everything you're saying is your opinion. i may be a prick but i'm not going to tell you that your opinions are wrong or bad. i'm just going to say i don't agree with your opinions. thats why i prefer to look at facts. there is almost no metric that you can come up with that says Kobe is better then Lebron... unless you want to bring up rings. and again, i think rings have much more to do with the team you are on then you as a player.
so with that said... i enjoyed the back and forth. its good to know someone other then shel, peay, myself, corey and jeff actually care about basketball.
