1.) I didn't ask what team you'd take. 2010 was loaded and you know it. No one realized it had little depth and no shooters until they lost. Before then, every UK fan was hanging off Calipari's nut sack and all the players. You had clowns comparing it to the fab five before the season started, as you will see again with the 2011 recruiting class. When your going to set expectations and act like these teams are going to be so good, and maybe rightfully so when they are 35-3, not making a final 4 is definitely a letdown and points at the coach. I never said 2010 was better, but it had 5 first round draft picks. Again I say your coach thought that was the biggest day in UK history. Obviously the talent was extraordinary and should have made a final four. His Memphis final four team was no better.

Now, let me know when he takes a team to the title that isn't considered possibly the most talent-laden and DEEPEST TEAM of all time.

That isn't as easy as you make it sound, but I'll be sure to do that. Denny Crum had 2 titles out of 5 final 4 appearances. How good do you think Tom Izzo's final 4 record is? Lets not be silly here and act like Pitino can't get that 5th win and make the title just because he doesn't have the 1996 UK team. If it was that easy, maybe Calipari could do it without getting it vacated. He does after all hold better recruiting classes year in and out than the teams that go to final fours every year.

Thanks for clearing that up Jurich. I'm glad he cares so much about Pitino's history instead of how good of a job he's done at Louisville in the past 5 years leading Louisville to:

2 elite 8s
Finishing 2nd in the big east twice
Winning the big east tournament and regular season
#1 overall seed

I'm sure a lot of athletic directors would fire that too, much less one of the best athletic directors in the country. I'd love to hear about how UKs athletic department would handle it so much better and do it so differently considering their prior history as being so moral.

Every single freaking talking head OUT THERE cited their lack of a shooter as their biggest weakness ALL SEASON LONG; and there's a reason that Wall, Patterson, Cousins/Orton, and Bledsoe played about 30+ minutes per game--THERE WAS NO TALENTED DEPTH!!! It was basically down to who had the hot hand (Miller/Liggins/Dodson) as to who played the 3, and they rotated. Other than those guys.....the rest were "give someone a breather" players. And if you honestly think "nobody knew that" until they lost, then you truly weren't paying attention to "nobody". As a UofL fan who saw him play....you tell me that the team didn't SORELY miss Jodie Meeks. Who would've double teamed Cousins with him open on the wing?!

2) Ok....but Pitino has been coaching in college for over 20 years. Take away the one year he had the most ridiculous team there was, and he's won.....zero titles. Yeah, that's a Hall of Fame resume there! (you've still yet to acknowledge you blew THAT one btw) In fact, Pitino is known for one of the GREATEST COACHING ERRORS OF ALL TIME by not putting a defender on Grant Hill. Oh, did I mention that before sending his team out there, he basically made them go ultra-timid by telling them, "make sure not to foul Laettner"? Who tells his team that right before they go defense the biggest play of the game? Way to make them play scared there, COACH.

Chew on this--Rick Pitino has won as many titles as Tubby Smith. And Tubby didn't need the best team in the nation to do it; he did it with the team Pitino left with maybe one or two good players (not one "star"), a bunch of walk-ons/role players, and a poor recruiting class.

3) I'm sorry, I didn't know Pitino's morality clause contained an addendum reading "however, if we feel you're a good coach, we'll simply ignore your morality clause and keep you around anyways".

Why are you talking about Jodie Meeks? He wasn't on the team. Who wouldn't sorely miss a kid of his caliber? All I'm saying is UK won 35 fucking games, was a #1 seed, and had tons of talent. They were a lot better than every team in that region in the tournament. It was a very weak region and not many people were picking WVU to go to the final 4 out of that region. Kentucky was the favorite and crushed every team they played in the tournament besides WVU. If you don't think UK should have been in the final four with all that talent, and a coach who gets paid 5 million dollars, that's your opinion and I'll agree to disagree. Mine however is that it was pathetic, and no worse than when the 'overrated' Memphis teams didn't do anything who had very similar records but not quite as much NBA talent. The Memphis teams did however have more upperclassmen contributing I'll admit that.

I will "chew on that." Tubby Smith is a great basketball coach. Why would I be ashamed that Tubby has as many titles? Only UK fans hate Tubby Smith and don't respect him.

That would be called a rivalry. However, a UK football fan was no where to be found any year prior to the first bowl they made in a long time. Even the fans knew they were a laughingstock. It goes both ways. UK and UL are total basketball schools everyone knows that. I'd look like a fool if I sat here and tried to defend UofL as in good shape as a football program right now. They will get back though. It won't be hard to rebuild and compete in the big east again.

1) My point was everyone knew they needed a shooter--except apparently for you. Hell, even Bilas, Gottlieb, etc were picking WVU to take down UK before the Final Four. We had the STARTING talent to win it all, but as WVU showed, you needed a bench too, and guys who could hit threes. We had neither unfortunately.

2) Never said he WOULDN'T make the HOF--simply said he's not there yet, so don't bestow it upon him yet. And I respect and love Tubby for what he did; that said, you can't keep bringing 3* talent to UK and go to the Sweet 16 every year.

3) I've been a UK football fan my whole life--back to the days when Bill Curry had Tim Couch trying to run the option. And UK has always had high attendance, higher than UofL's had SEATS for the most part.

If you're tlaking about Enes Kanter, they're not "sniffing around"--that's a full fledged investigation that is not about UK, simply about if he's eligible to play in college, just like the kid from West Virginia last season who also played pro in Turkey (and had to sit like 20 games at WVU, I believe). UK's kept him out of everything, so no wrong-doing there.

WVU and Kilicli got jobbed last year. Dennis has to sit out 20 games because he played with a guy that got paid. Kanter got paid 6 figures...much different. It's still silly how they handle international players. By the way, it was well known that Kanter got paid. Everyone knew, which is part of the reason Huggs stayed clear.

They had a 3-year starter down there along with a great big man and some shooters off the bench.

You can complain all you want about not having NBA shooters on that bench, but that was plenty good enough to win the title. With that team I could see Kryzewski, Calhoun, Izzo, Boeheim, Gary Williams, Pitino, Donovan, Howland, and Matta all winning the championship. I could go further, but my opinions would trump logic yet that's still 9 guys that could've won with that team.
