You either have a legit chance to win it all, or you should be hoping for a "top" pick.
Limbo, where you are, is worse than having the worst record in the league

not a living sole, out of their mind or not, would have made that bet. You're Nick from 3 seasons ago (or whatever it was) no rationale for your record

its like the Pirates being 20 games better than the Giants this year.

Shel has taken over nicely in my absence of "I am rebuilding and I have no idea how we are this good and I expected .500 ball!"
I hope you fair better than we did the season following the surprise season.

Failed Drug Test Lands Luyo 10-Game Suspension
Wednesday, August 28th, 2024
There has been another drug bust in baseball. The league commissioner has suspended Seattle starting pitcher Roberto Luyo for 10 games for violating its drug policy.
In 25 starts this season Luyo has crafted a 5-8 record with a 4.30 ERA.
we should mandate that to be a 50 game suspension!! realism!!! sim!!!
It was weed...

I at least think I'll be ok, but only because of the 2 SPs I traded for, they're still under contract next year and pretty darn good.
Otherwise, I could easily see going back to mediocre, below .500 as a probable option.

I hope the season wraps up just like the standings are now. I'll get the bye, overall top seed and possibly play Miami or NE in the 2nd round.
Should make for a decent amount of immersion.

But will choke come playoff time. Ask Detroit how they did with their inflated record last year in the playoffs where nobody gave the Beef a chance. And then it was a given against the LolCats.

No love, I don't like you anymore and I hope I get to play you in the second round. But if my team continues to play the way they have we definitely have a great shot at the second bye. The Beef have played to the tune of 20-8 in August and 32-16 since the All Star break.

If Steven Hays can strike out 18 more batters before seasons end he'll reach 220 + Ks for the 11th straight season

Georgie, it's possible, but very implausible for our 2 teams to face off in the 2nd round. If you get the 2nd bye, and I have the 1st bye, we won't meet up in round 2.
Although, I am 7-3 vs Omaha this year, so we're willing to take on all competitors!

Houston goes 2-5 this sim . . . gets swept in 3 by Cincy and then splits the 4 games series with New England. Somehow they move from 5 GB of the WC to 4 GB.
Being only 4 games back of the wild card, Houston is still in hunt for a playoff birth . . . of the next 4 opponents (12 games) only 1 (3 games) is above .500 . . . however, of the last 4 opponents to close the season (12 games), all are above .500. Of the remaining 24 games in the regular season . . . only 6 are on the road. Down the stretch, Houston will have a 12 game home stand. On the season, Houston is 36-27 (.571) at home.
Finishing the month of August at 11-18, Houston starts off September undefeated (1-0). They hope to keep the hot streak alive with FA pick up 1B/DH Lawrence Franks. Franks is a lifetime .314 hitter, with a .469 SLG and .845 OPS. Hit ability to hit will hopefully spark something for one of the worst offenses in the NDL.
On a sad note, the rotation took a big hit as rookie SP Conrad Springer goes done for 4 months with a torn labrum . . .
