Ronaldo also played tonight in the semis in LA. Had a goal and an assist vs Everton. Chelsea vs Real Madrid would be awesome to see.

That's like thinking that Week 4 of the preseason, the top NFL players won't play because the season is about to start.
That's when they'd need to play the most, to get into their final form. The BPL season starts in two weeks; Community Shield is next weekend, United vs Wigan I think.
I know that city fans try to forget the Community Shield.....

I know you're like a jaguar fan and the Jags don't have any players worth protecting, but in the NFL the starters don't play much in week 4 of the preseason.
but I get your point and i'll go grab some tix. there are back to back games 3rd place and the finals

Touche my team tends to play more of the starters than most, I guess.
Juve and Madrid will both have close to a full squad out there; and even if they don't, both teams are so deep that you know guys off their benches (like Kaka).
I wanted to go to the Inter-Chelsea match up in Indy but I couldn't get the time off work. $100 got you a decent seat and a field pass.

Juan Agudelo will join Stoke in January. Stoke is becoming the new Fulham with Agudelo, Shea, Cameron, and Maurice Edu.

Not so much him being nice as it is him making sure the guy doesn't do something crazy. If you've watched him enough to know his mannerisms, you can tell he's visibly rattled after he walks away. There's no sly smirk, there's no frustration.
He kept calm, kept the guy calm, and made sure he got away from the situation in one piece. That stuff has to be scary for them.

What are the odds of Aron Johannsson making the World Cup roster? I've read a bit about him, but haven't seen him play prior to this game.

It's only one match but if he can finish the chances he got yesterday this season for AZ, I'd easily take him over Gomez, Wondo, et al. He didn't score but he was very impressive.

So my (very limited) takeaways from the first weekend of the BPL.
- Arsenal.... ugh. But Aston Villa did look good.
- Chelsea looked awesome for about 20 minutes. After that, not so much. I can't believe Mata didn't play.
- I'm very interested in seeing what Man City looks like this afternoon; so much so that I even set the DVR for the match.
- Ricky van Wolfswinkel: Best name in the BPL
- Man U looked like Man U
- West Ham was good albeit against Cardiff.

I think Mata is being held out because Mourinho is desperate to get Rooney, and he could be make-weight in the deal.

Some major happenings in the xfer market today.....
Everton turned down bids from United for both Baines and Fellaini
Newcastle turned down a bid from Arsenal for Cabaye
Lewandowski was given a pay raise, which hurts Chelsea's hopes of making him a back-up plan to their bid for Wazza

what man u offered was hardly a "bid". it was a joke to try and get fellaini and baines to try and force a transfer. 28 mil for both of em? everton wants that for fellaini alone

They can want whatever; nobody's paying 28m for Fellaini. Otherwise he'd be bought already. He had a 23.5m buyout clause and nobody jumped on it. What makes them think someone will pay 28?

well i think they dont want to get rid of him at all, thats the point. they will want 20+ thats for sure, the PSG, Monaco, Man City's fucked everyone up by raising the transfer fees up. a star or atleast semi-star like that is gunna be 20+. everton paid 15 for him at 20, so at 25(his prime) he shouldnt be worth more?
