Hopefully Las Vegas does not get swept, and none of my players go down. Vegas is playing better, but pitching is still not where I would like it to be, and hopefully they play better at your house. Should be a decent series, hopefully.Cnasty wrote:3 against LV, 4 against Detroit after this sim will make the NL wildcard picture a lot clearer.
Losing my closer for 3 weeks didnt help.

Re: 2038 Season - You've Got Crabs! (2/5)
After our series, we play 14 straight games on the road.
Damn you OOTP schedulers!!!!
We are +7 in python and have been in the wild card spot all season. Will be a devastating end to an overachieving season for these little digital fellas!

Happy to see C'Ville creating some space in the Wild Card race. Still have a few tough match ups to go though, including that stupid team in Ohio.
Very excited to watch SP Pete Denson grow. Believe he'll be on a few awards list throughout this career.

I'll probably start resting guys soon since I got East locked up
Re: 2038 Season - You've Got Crabs! (2/5)
How has that strat worked? Seriously asking, not being a dick. Do other teams rest guys? I have changed rotations to set guys up in the past but I have never long term rested guys leading into the playoffs.nick wrote:I'll probably start resting guys soon since I got East locked up

i just rets to avoid pivotal injuries since my team has a tendency to lose 1 or more big names in Sept.
Re: 2038 Season - You've Got Crabs! (2/5)
The way I understand it is ootp has an algorithm to decide injuries. Each player has a percentage likelihood of getting injured any given play. An Iron Man like Lehman is .00003% or whatever tiny amount it is. A player who is injured all the time will be a lot higher but who knows what the percentages are. Every play has an outcome and an injury is one of them. When you rest a player, he isn't playing so that % is nearly zero (off field injuries). If you sit a star who is Fragile, half the games to end the season, he is half as likely to get injured.
Rust is something that exists though. Although OOTP only talks about it in spring training and after "extended" injuries. We don't really know how it is removed or how long it stays on, but it does exist.
We also don't know if players are more likely to get injured later in the season than before, or while rusty. OOTP doesn't address this anywhere. So when nick is saying he tends to lose guys late in the season, it could be due to him overworking his guys OR it could be just chance. We don't know.

Re: 2038 Season - You've Got Crabs! (2/5)
One would imagine that in a detailed sim like OOTP that fatigue would be part of the injury equation and so late season injuries could become more prevalent if players are not resting on a semi-realistic basis throughout the year. Though, position players hardly ever seem to be below 100% rested.Uuaww wrote:The way I understand it is ootp has an algorithm to decide injuries. Re: 2038 Season - You've Got Crabs! (2/5)
It also depends on the player. I will see some position players below 100% (catcher often), but rare for other position players.
I actually don't personally think that fatigue is a factor in the injury equation. I very much do think that rust is however.

I guess we should just go to the source next time... their manuals are pretty comprehensive.

Fatigue / Rest Status
Players also accumulate fatigue as the season goes on, displayed as percentage "Rest Status" in the Health Status section of anyscreen in the Player Profile. Each time a player participates in a game, he gains a certain amount of fatigue, reducing his Rest Status. Each day off restores Rest Status. Once a certain amount of fatigue has been accumulated, the player becomes tired. Tired players don't perform as well, and are also more prone to suffering injuries. Pitchers are often very tired or even exhausted immediately after pitching. It's also important to note that fatigue can accumulate over time and have long-term adverse impact on players. So, be careful how hard you work that young ace in AA!
Players who are tired are represented on player lists with an orange, half-full battery icon (), with the player's name in yellow. Players who are exhausted are represented on player lists with a red, almost-empty battery icon (), with the player's name in yellow. Fatigue for pitchers is driven primarily by the number of pitches thrown in the past five days, together with the pitcher's Stamina rating. Position player fatigue is driven primarily by games played.
Fatigue for position players (non-pitchers) can be adjusted or turned off completely. This can be done during game creation in the Suspension, Injury, and Fatigue Options section of the Game Options page. After game creation, this can be changed at any time by navigating to OOTP Menu >> Game Setup >> Global Setup tab.

Winterfell has more SOs than Runs!!!
Re: 2038 Season - You've Got Crabs! (2/5)
Stop being so trapped in the moment of a single regular season. Things are cyclical. A few seasons back the AL East had 1 playoff team while the West had 3. In all but one of the last few years the West has had at least 2 playoff teams. Overreacting to current situations without regard to overall history of the league isn't worth anyone's time.
