Notre Dame falls to Florida 31-24. It really felt like Florida was just toying with the Irish throughout most of the game. Driskel & Co. did do the unexpected and that was come out throwing early. This lead to a quick turnover that Notre Dame was able to convert into 3 points. The Gators would march down the field and make it 7-3 just as quick. In the 2nd, Notre Dame would drive the field with some key runs by RB Carlisle ending with a short throw to some random WR for the 10-7 Irish led. Florida would again tie it up quickly to make the game 10 all. Florida would have a chance to take the lead before the half but Driskel would throw his 2nd INT of the day with less than a minute left in the half.

In the 2nd, it was all Florida early. The Gator defense would INT whatever my QB's name is and return it for the pick 6. The next drive would see that same QB, a freshman mind you.... fumble the ball resulting in Florida picking it up and running it back to take a 14 point lead. The Irish would try to get a drive going but would again turn the ball over on an INT. In the 4th, the Gators would be forced to punt and Notre Dame would come out firing getting the ball into the end zone for only the 2nd time that day to make it 31-17. On the next drive, Driskel would throw another INT and then watch as three plays later Carlisle took the hand off on a 3rd and short and ran a really long way to score making it 31-24. After that Notre Dame decided not to play any more and watched as the Gators ran the clock out.

The Gator defense was just phenomenal. Always in the backfield making the Irish running game difficult to get going, much less giving them time to throw. The secondary were no slouches either. Hoping to take advantage of what would look like DB's cheating off of the receivers would usually result in their recovery and then a deflection with 3 INT's mixed in. With any luck in the SEC most of those defenders will be graduating or leaving early for the draft!

GG uf.

GG WM.

We were never toying with the Irish, lol. And you almost made a huge comeback, when I thought I had the game in hand. It seemed like your run game was either a negative play or a large gain, no in between. Was fun tho. Hopefully, I can give you a rematch soon.

I'm losing:
Offensively -
Starting QB
2 HBs that share duties
2 WRs (1 starter)
top 2 TEs
3 starting OL

Defensively -
2 DL (1 DE, 1 DT)
4 LBs (2 starters)
5 DBs (3 starters)

punter

That is JUST seniors . . . so, if I win, who knows who will try to leave early . . .and/or transfer.

If they try to transfer you can talk them into staying. It's the leaving early for the draft that we said you couldn't stop them.

Meant to answer tfan's question last night. I'm loaded with underclassmen. Losing maybe one or two defensive guys and my TE, other than that... And I lost my bowl game so I get to talk anyone into staying!!! Yay

I could see that if they were a projected first round pick, but these guys who are projected 5/6/7 and are "very high" to be talked back should be allowed to be approached.

Now I have no desire to win my bowl game :?

Sorry, but I recruited with the idea that I'd be able to try to bring guys like Yeldon back if they tried to leave early. This wasn't ever mentioned to me and puts me in a very tough spot. I would've recruited another HB harder had I known this was a rule.

And personally I find the rule to be messed up. I could see that if you win the national title, but just winning a bowl game?

Passing on a bowl win? Need those coaching points to finish leveling the playing field with recruiting.

I predict the Noles will lose...........

QB - 1
Hard to say, Winston or Coker could leave early, and with a total of 6 QB on this seasons roster we might see one try to transfer as well. Thankfully the position looks deep enough to be in good shape even with some are lost early.

RB/FB - 1
Wilder will be gone, but there is a nice setup were we look to have a Sr, Jr, Soph, and Fr all on next seasons roster, plus the FB was a Fr this year, and another strong FB will be added for next season opening up the option of more power running for the Noles offense.

WR/TE - 2 or 3
Rashad Greene and Christian Green will leave have racked up 40+ TDs and 4,000+ yards receiving between then in the past two seasons. Kelvin Benjamin has a year left, but I doubt he will return, but with two top recruits at the position joining the squad and 3 more who were redshirted last season this group will in fact be much faster next season.

OL - 5
Starters at all 5 positions were Sr this year, thankfully each spot had a quality backup, with C and RT looking like next years starter will actually be rated higher than those from this past season.

DL - 2
Casher and Edwards took turns dominating at DE the past couple seasons, and either could leave, and I fear at least one of them will. Big Timmy J finally leaves at DT, leaving 4 DTs on the roster, 3 who will be Sr next season.

LB - 0
Only one Jr at this position even, and he was a backup. One might try to transfer, but I expect all will return.

DB - 4
Thorpe award winner Waisome graduates, and I wouldn't be surprised to see #1 CB P.J. Williams head out a year early after dominating his position for the past couple seasons. Karlos Williams and Tyler Hunter were beast at FS and SS last season, but both were Sr.

So it looks like 8 starters on offense leaving (counting slot WR Green as I didn't often use a TE this past season), and 6 on defense leaving. But it seems unlikely that any freshman will be called on other than to backup at DE or at a few DB spots.

No need to get bent out of shape yet. You don't even know who or if anyone will try to leave. Secondly, just a bowl game? SEC teams don't deal with this every season? Florida lost their bowl game two seasons ago, didn't even come close to going to a bowl game this season and they still lost underclassmen each season.

Ultimately, it's just a game. Relax and try to have some fun man.

Alabama will be losing the following:

QB Blake Sims--a Heisman front-runner until he suffered an injury in week 10, he didn't have the best ratings in the world (far from it), but he torched defenses week in and week out with accurate throws and his athleticism. He ended up finishing second in the Heisman voting despite the injury. Redshirt freshman Cooper Bateman played well in his stead, and he will fight with sophomore Alec Morris for the starting job next season.

HB Jalston Fowler--mostly used as a fullback, he will not be a major loss

WR DeAndrew White and Christion Jones--White was the best receiver in the nation, and he and Jones were one of Alabama's trio of 90-rated WRs, which leaves a big hole to be filled next season. White's electric speed helped him rack up 1367 yds receiving and 121 yds rushing on just 10 carries. His 120 catches and 15 TDs helped him win the Belitnikof trophy, and gave the Tide a home run threat. Jones gave them a great target in the slot. WR Amari Cooper is expected to return, and along with redshirt freshmen Robert Foster they will give the Tide a solid 1-2 punch. Incoming freshmen will help as well.

TE Brian Vogler--49 catches, 582 yards, and 6 TDs would normally be something to be missed...but sophomore OJ Howard looks to be a freak in the making, and with 86 speed he will be a major weapon. He didn't get to see much time on the field this year, but made huge plays when he did. The loss of Vogler might actually be addition by subtraction, as Howard will get a chance to shine.

OL Arie and Cyrus Kouandjio, Chad Lindsay, Austin Shepherd, and Leon Brown--the Tide will be hit very hard on the OL, as they lose four starters and two key backups, including the top OL in the nation in Cyrus Kouandjio, the Outland trophy winner. The returning OL are solid but not nearly on the level of this group, and they will be greatly missed.

DE Jeoffrey Pagan, DT Brandon Ivory--one position the Tide are set at is the defensive line, and the loss of two All Americans is not a huge blow. Ivory was a monster all year and will be tough to replace but there is a solid group there. Ivory was major in the run game but didn't do much in terms of rushing the passer. However, Bama has the top two DEs in the nation coming in, so the depth will get even better.

LB Adrian Hubbard, Trey DePriest, and Xzavier Dickson--the Tide lose two starting LB and a key backup, but again there is depth here and incoming help will soften the blow.

FS Clinton Ha Ha Dix, FS Nick Perry, SS Vinnie Sunseri, and SS Jarrick Williams--this is an area the Tide are concerned about. They will lose two major players in Sunseri and Dix, and two key backups. The remaining SS is a 66 rated, so odds are someone will switch positions or a freshman will start right away.

--------------

Possible losses:

HB TJ Yeldon--if he returns, he's one of the two best HBs in the nation. If he doesn't, it leaves the load on the shoulders of junior Kenyan Drake, who was redshirted this year just in case.
WR Amari Cooper--90 rated WR, if he leaves it would cost the Tide their top three WR and leave a big hole.
C Ryan Kelly--92 ovr center, losing him and his backup (graduation) would be brutal for the Tide.

Alabama took out their frustrations left over from the lagfest SEC Championship by beating the feathers off the UofL Cardinals defense and won a 91-65 shootout.

QB Blake Sims threw for 369 yds and 3 touchdowns, and rushed for 57 more yards and 3 more touchdowns.....in the FIRST HALF. DeAndrew White also had 9 grabs for 131 yds and two scores before halftime. Sims completed first-half passes of 36, 32, 28, and 42 yards as he absolutely torched the Cardinals defense on 25 of 33 passing. He threw a pick in the endzone as well or he might have had seven touchdowns.

When it was all said and done, Sims threw for a school record (and near NCAA record) 674 yards and a school record 8 touchdowns, completing 45 of 69 passes. He also rushed for 92 yards and 4 more touchdowns, giving him an NCAA record 12 scores in one game. Teddy Bridgewater was doing pretty much his best to imitate Sims, as he went 42/60 for 607 yards and 5 touchdowns, and also rushed for another score. White ended with a school record 15 grabs, a school record 249 yds, and tied the school record with three touchdowns.

Between them, each school had over 700 yards of offense and they combined for 1492 yards, 22 touchdowns, and a whopping 173 plays on offense. There were only 21 third downs the whole game out of all those plays. The 4th quarter saw UofL close to within two scores and saw a combined 56 points scored in eight minutes.

This game deserved a lot more than just five highlights....but I put five on the website
