I guess they'd all get through waivers?
And I see via the article they did.
Wow.

The Red Sox and Dodgers are closing in on a trade that would send Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford and Nick Punto to Los Angeles,
Holy shit thats alot of payroll.
Crawford 20+
AGon 20+
Beckett 15+
Punto 3+
im happy about this minus gonzalez. losing him doesnt really break my heart either.
Majorly agree here.
Gonzalez would be the only one I would want to hold onto but even he is replaceable. He doesnt fit in Boston and cant handle the media. Pussy
I hope they get a deal done which would clear huge contracts, get some prospects, and start rebuilding this mess of a franchise. Get rid of that clown Bobby V would have been the first point of business.
And whoever hired his ass needs to get fired as well.

Red Sox long for the days of Marty Barrett, Jody Reed and Dennis Lamp right about now.

I'm no sox follower but what can't Gonzales handle with the media?
Didn't he have a monster year last season?

i'd love to see the Sox make this deal then offer Josh Hamilton like 30 mil per year next season.

you're a saber guy.....you dont think this is other worldly smart for the sox?
i mean gonz has 15 hrs and 85 rbis this year. i'd imagine playing a full year they could get that out of loney
IMO this is a must do if they can con LA into making this deal

of course i think its smart for the Sox, i never said i didn't.
if you can get out of Beckett and Crawford, you do it even if your forced to give up Gonzalez. i certainly don't think Gonzalez is done. i'd guess he puts up monster numbers again next year but if they are going to get some stud prospects in return and they can even take a flyer on an older one like Sands, i think its worth it.

i like gonzo
ideally if you could just dump crawford and beckett that'd be the way to go, but there isnt much chance LA goes for that
apparently most of the parties involved have been taken out of the lineup tonight

HA! good luck. That dude is a head case. I watch the rangers 8 of 10 nights living in dallas. You wouldn't believe some of the things this guy has done. I hope the Rangers let him go to FA honestly unless he's taking a HUGE hometown discount. Plus Fenway really is built for RH sluggers. Not that lefties cant do well but a righty will flourish there. Anybody thinks Agon cant handle the media? lmao let em sign hamilton and you'll see Randy Johnson in the Bronx type cracking under the pressure.
Clearing close to $300 million owed over the next 5-6 years really would give boston a clean slate. I just wonder what really the Dodgers could offer for that much talent regardless of contract. They're farm isn't exactly top 5 and they're not parting with Kershaw/Billingsley. Obviously Boston will want Ruby De La Rosa back then there's Zach Lee (who went to HS right down the road in McKinney) and allen Webster but even if they offered all three that's way low.

guess i should have looked first. here's the reported return. Doesn't even include Lee which is crazy to me.
Allen Webster
Ruby De La Rosa
James Loney
Jerry Sands
Ivan De Jesus

He has made numerous comments of how its different in Boston and he doesnt interview with their media because they never ask about baseball but always ask about "soap operas" instead. He is notorious for not talking to Boston media.
Thats all I meant on that one.
I like Gonzalez and would hate to see him go but the Sox have to do that deal every day and start over.
Bring Francona back, gut the roster, and start over.

One teams trash is another's treasure. Change of scene maybe all they need. Hope LA has enough to beat Washington.

I like they are being smart and just doing it. They will rebuild for the next year or 2, got 2 solid young arms in the deal, and now can concentrate on a lot of flexibility.
I can see them pursuing shields, possibly peavy, and then maybe lock up ellsbury. I don't see him going anywhere.
Just please, PLEASE get rid of valentine.
Crawford was a terrible signing from the gt go in my opinion. I hate seeing Gonzalez go, I like him a lot.
Thanks for the titles Beckett, but he has been nothing but a headache lately. Bye

These guys got waived. If someone claims them boston had 2 days to work out a trade or pull them back off waivers.
These guys made it through every team in the al and it got to the dodgers spot and they jumped on all of them

What's the rule on being able to pull guys back?
I seem to remember having that option in the ootp a few seasons ago. But with all the guys I've waived the last few seasons, I don't ever recall having that option.
