From my understanding, this isn't so. They only became more public in the last 20 years.

I'll see if I can find the data but school shootings remained mostly constantly over the years(even more than 20 years ago) until about 2011 where all of a sudden it's increased. It's basically tripled since 2011.

I don't remember ever seeing 5+ kids being killed in a random killing spree at a school prior to the Columbine shooting. I could chalk that up as being younger and not following the news though too

IMO it's partly because we were younger and partly because Columbine saw 15 killed, and they probably did become more media drive after that as opposed to before, but:

I said this like 5 pages ago about tyranny. People think because they have AR-15's, they are setting themselves up against the government. Sorry to tell those people, but your AR15 will not compete with the military M16 that has that happy switch that makes theirs fully automatic. Not to mention their tanks, helicopters, etc.

Does the military really still use a lot of M16s vs M4s, or are they still in the process of switching over? M4A1s are full auto and (I thought) the new standard issue. Though, Marines and SEALs still run with M16 variants that have full auto as well.

I did have a "gun advocate" argue that they could take down a helicopter or small plane with their 50 cal rifle - I told them it was all the more reason those shouldn't be in the hands of non-active military citizens...

Handgun purchase in Florida - 3-5 day waiting period, 21 years old, criminal history check.
Rifle purchase in Florida - no waiting period, 18 years old, no checks.

No regulations on assault rifles, 50 caliber rifles, or large capacity magazines.

Where is the logic in all of this? People say tough gun laws don't matter, but this all just seems stupid...

I've seen some Nasty Guard and Reservists using the M16. But active it's all M4's. The A1 variant of the M16 were full auto, but they were phased out prior to me joining in 94.

I've worked a lot with the SEALS these past couple of years and their M4's are the same as the one I carried, better optics though. You'll have a couple actually use SCARs, not sure if they are full auto.

.50 call will fuck things up! Seen video of it ripping a limb off someone. It'll go thru an engine block of a normal vehicle. 1 of 2 guns I always wanted to shoot. The sniper variant and the Mark 19 (auto grenade launcher)
