Random Question of the Day for you old guys, would you change your career choice if you could? Now i'm not asking if you would change to be a MLB player or something, but something more or less realistic haha. I'm kinda to the point of my life where I gotta start figuring (more) shit out. I know people will say "you're only 20 you're not suppose to have shit figured out" but that's not really the case in today's world tbh. Idk if its the people i'm around, but it seems like everyone else does ahah. School is going okay, but I definitely underestimated how competitive things would get I guess.

Fuck no! Enjoyed my 21 years in the Army. And now making 90k in 6 months of work, wouldn't change the past, but the future may hold something different within the next year or so

I changed my career choice 4 years into it and couldn't be happier, but I also got lucky with my new career/job. Everyone said I was crazy/dumb for the change. So easy for others to decide what makes you happy. So not the most exciting advice but do whatever makes you happy, I know it is cliche but it's always so spot on.

I've loved my job since I started. Been 9 years in now and realistically it is very unlikely I ever quit or change; and even if i did, I would stay federal government.
stay away from debt if you can, get something you can tolerate.
after that, do something that doesn't work you to death. bc even if you don't love your job, you want to at least have it allow you to do the things you love... and you need time for that.

Granted I'm on my phone but it says it's a gif but I don't see it moving.
I am not an adrenaline junkie so it is so hard for me to comprehend how someone ever gets the courage the first time. Like wtf made her think I got this and go for it.

Yes
I was 40 when I moved back home and left a job (Progressive Insurance) I was at for just shy of 15 years.
I work at my local school district now as a network admin.
If you have a 401k, the only thing you may lose bouncing around is a company match. When I was at Progressive, they matched my contributions up to 5%. When I left, my money is still there growing, but I don't have any more of my paycheck or the company match going in.
I now have a retirement starting through my school.
Once I get a raise, in like 2 years when I take over for the main tech guy as he is retiring, I plan on putting some money into my Roth IRA (was my 401k, but had it changed after I left) every paycheck.
Now, at my school, their pension is different and you have to be there so long or you cannot withdrawal money from it as you are not vested, but depends on how it is setup.
But other than a retirement, there is really no reason not to change jobs, especially if you are not happy or something.
Life is too short, you have to be happy at your job as you are there more than you are home basically.

Probably not, although I'm getting to the point of being burned out. Plus side is I'm in my last year of training, so light's at the end of the tunnel so to speak. Medicine has been a mental, physical, and emotional challenge. Frankly I got into it because I liked the science and wanted a job w security. Tons of uncertainties with the future of medicine, reimbursements, etc, but overall I'd likely do it again. If I didn't get into the specialty I wanted? Definitely not.

Anyone here ever do any app development? I have an idea for an app/service but the estimate I got from a relative of a relative was like $150k. Looking for a second opinion.
