she went around several news agencies with that mess and her excuse was she misspoke. Makes her look like a kid who farts in class and says it was his shoe to me.

Everything I read about her makes me scared I work at a public high school.

On surface. It scares me. However we just elected a person with ZERO political experience to the highest office. Why shouldn't we put a person with zero teaching experience or public school experience to the highest educational office

Also, from what I have read it seems that the Secretary of Education role is so constrained they really don't / can't do anything besides lobby for what the president wants.

This according to an article from Harvard professors.

Personally, I have no idea who the prior secretary of ed. were or what they did...if anything.

I think people are just whining about whatever they can now.

Here big talking points I believe are doing away with common core and school choice ( vouchers)

IMO public schools vs charter vs private comes down to one thing only. Class size. You want scores to go up in public schools. Lower the class size. Problem solved.

kids can pretty much already go to whatever schools they want by way of Academies or 'programs'....transportation is just not being provided.

In all reality, public education is a black hole. The money is there, it is just being spent by morons in ridiculous ways on ridiculously over priced things. Then things aren't taken care of. It (pub. education) is incredibly wasteful on how they spend their money.

Agree. And of course parent responsibility needs to be severely addressed.

Oh little Johnny is 12 and reads on a 2nd grade level?
Well what are you doing to help at home?
You let him play video games till bed time?
Thanks we will get right on that at school and wave our magic wand to get him grade level.

New Orleans is 100% charter schools and also is complete crap at schools.... No idea how they would even implement going back to non-charter.

What exactly is a charter school and how does that differ from a private/public school? I understand the difference between private and public but just not sure what a charter school is
