So, this happened in Weasel's neck of the woods:

https://cabs.msu.edu/news/key-issues/is ... ident.html
I was distressed this morning to learn of a racial incident in one of our residence halls. A student reported a noose was hung outside of her room. I want to recognize the courage it took for the student to report this incident.

MSU Police and our Office of Institutional Equity were immediately notified, and both promptly began investigations. I want to be clear: This type of behavior is not tolerated on our campus. No Spartan should ever feel targeted based on their race, or other ways in which they identify. A noose is a symbol of intimidation and threat that has a horrendous history in America.

While at this time we do not know all of the details, the Spartan community can be assured we are vigorously investigating this situation.

-- Lou Anna K. Simon, MSU President
UPDATED STATEMENT: After investigating, MSU Police have determined the object was a packaged leather shoelace and not a noose. The matching packaged shoelace was found outside of the residence hall. Officers located and spoke to the student who lost both of the shoelaces, which are packaged in a way that someone could perceive them to look similar to a noose. The student who lost the shoelaces lives on the same floor as the student who made the original report.

Also, the original shoelace found inside the residence hall was not directed at any individual. It originally was seen on hallway floor and later on a stairwell door handle, where officers believe someone put it after picking it up.

As we did in this case, the university takes any reported racial incident very seriously. We feel it is important to quickly communicate what we know to the campus community and provide updates as necessary. MSU continues to provide support to the students involved.

--Jason Cody, MSU spokesman

interesting tidbit on Vegas Shooter. Cops found a note and this was the description...

"I could see on it he had written the distance, the elevation he was on, the drop of what his bullet was gonna be for the crowd," Newton said. "So he had that written down and figured out so he would know where to shoot to hit his targets from there."

hadn't seen this mentioned anywhere.

Wow, this changes the entire timeline of events.

Vegas shooter shot the security guard before firing into the crowd.

In a bombshell adjustment to the official timeline, police said Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock fired on security guard Jesus Campos before taking aim at the concert crowd.

if the timeline is as they say....wonder how many people will sue the guard or security company for not getting more involved or getting a quicker response to the room.

Doesn't mean people won't do it. People sue for just about anything these days if they think they can make a buck. Just stupid.

The one thing that I have come to the conclusion of and its crazy possibly, but I think Paddock really truly thought he was going to escape.....the security guard still saved the day because he heard drilling coming from the shooters room and went to inspect. If he ignored the drilling and continued back down stairs Paddock would have prob continued setting up whatever devices he was going for when drilling etc and probably would have shot later into the evening and carried out his entire plan, whatever the hell it actually was.

Pretty sure this is my very first triple post, but the man shot in the hall def alerted someone before shooting began.

“He called it in before” the attack began, possibly using a hallway phone to contact hotel security, Clark County Assistant Sheriff Tom Roberts told The Times in an interview. “He manually called down and he used his radio to call. … That’s what we were briefed this morning.” (Excerpt from the LA Times)
