Also in Shane or whoever else's defense, just because you offer let's say two 70 rated players for one 60-65 rated player doesn't mean they absolutely have to deal that player. Maybe it's not the most business savvy move to do that in every scenario but some owners just may really like certain players and it may help their immersion level to have said player on their team. I also think some owners get too tied up in the overall and potential ratings by their scout and OSA and that may hinder talks

For me, wasn't an attack on Coug. Just pointing out how scouts may vary on just how valuable a player is.

I have an owner bumping his thread pretty much daily who hasn't responded to a couple of IMs the past couple of days. :?
Said owner rarely checks aim. Also, said owner put people on his trade block so why would another owner request that he take a look at his team. That's not how it works. Owners put players on the trade block, other owners inquire and make offers
That's actually the exact opposite of how it works.

I tell you who I want, you tell me who you want. I don't know who your scout likes from my team, so why would I pick guys for you? I also don't know what you're looking for, prospects/vets, pitchers/hitters...it makes much more sense for you to choose guys you want and take it from there.

If you tell me you'r interested in someone from my team, the onus is on me to go and find guys I like from your team.

Yeah, I'm all about both sides throwing out some names or at least "prototypes" to get the discussions rolling.

I'd say that's far from incorrect.

I'd guess that 75% of my trades were offered initially by me. In fact, I'm pretty well known for just firing off 5-6 offers at a time to different coaches or sending out offers that have variables in them for the other guy to choose their pieces.

I'd like to think I'm pretty darn easy to execute a deal with and if there isn't a deal to be had, I'm also pretty upfront about shutting shit down and moving on.

But it's not aggravating for the other owner to have to do it?
Is more aggregating to me when you offer guys and my scout thinks their crap.
If that's the best you're going to offer, then apparently there won't be any deals made. But at least you made an offer... it is at least something to build on
You sure? I'll bet money if I had offered any one, except Ted, Muliro 3 seasons ago for any decent player they'd have blown me off. My scout saw him as an 80 OVR back then. What you see and what I see could be very different.
Take Cougars guy he won't trade. I have no idea what he sees him at but my scout has him as a 62. Hardly a guy I'd say I won't trade. We all see things differently.

Very true. This is why I like to send out offers with variables in them. I find a handful of guys that are in the same general area for me, some lower, some higher and let the other guy choose. In many cases the other guys chooses one of the lesser options due to scout variance.

dusters06 wrote:It is at least an offer to build on...that's my point. I don't feel the need to sift through 30 teams and pick a few guys i want and make random offers. My trade block players are open to be acquired. In return tell me who you're willing to move and we can come to terms.

There's a few the conversation isn't even worth having, Cinci tries to rape me with each move so I don't bother. Shel has made 300,000 trades so is far wiser than me. I've sent responses with players who I'm interested in and 99.9% of the time am returned with "you picked the 4 or 5 I can't move"...so again, a wasted step by me if you had simply responded with the players you'd be willing to move. Cinci has sent me his list numerous times in response to guys I've offered up. Granted we've never really come close to a deal, but it's better than playing tag with the whole I can't move him game
Just the tip.

If someone says they are interested in a player on my block I like to list everyone in your organization that I like, sometimes with position preferences. Ball is back in your court to come up with the offer of the guy you liked from a list of players that I sent. Then negotiations truly begin.

there will be 2 new versions of OOTP between us and 17. I haven't touched 17 so I have zero idea how it is going to work with IFAs... I assume everything will change.
