why wouldn't hitter of the year involve defense? its not like theres a hitter of the year and mvp. so I think defense should matter.

yeah, we have a pitcher of the year for that type of player and a hitter of the year for the other type of player.

defense is overrated in baseball. 126 games, 9 innings, 3 outs/inning so 27/game x 162, 1 mistake here or there isnt a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Saying a guy who saves, maybe max, 10 runs more than another player makes them more important than say someone batting .330 over 600 AB's vs someone batting .280.. I think offense is a much bigger deal
