We had a "teacher appreciation breakfast" last week. School starts at 7:15, but the people with the breakfast didnt show up until 8:00. Some teachers tried to get some food in between their 1st and 2nd classes, but by then custodians, secretaries, and administrators were in there getting plates full of food, just grubbing. Good times!

You know what's really jarring is when you think a kid is just an average, normal, red blooded all-American male. Then you go to a sporting event where the pep band is playing and there he is in the front row with a piccolo.

Should put this in the random discussion thread but I am tired of hearing about teachers complaining about pay and blah blah blah but man do they love to brag about their 4 months off!!! :)

Present company excluded of course.

O/U on how long before Biffy, AJ(teachers), and Mike(meatball maker) start another Show franchise and roll through 3 seasons in a week?

Line is set at 6 days.

nobody gets 4 months off, usually 2 1/2, in which we dont get paid. (and if they do, its because they have money taken out of their checks during the other 10 months).

Most teachers have to find another job during the summer months to supplement their income. Ive been teaching for 18 years and bring home less than 3K a month, for 10 months, so yea, pay is low. :(

Me too.

Also, I just graded a final where a kid got 3 out of 59 questions right. I've had similar ones before but I just thought I'd share that with everyone.

I should also that I allow them to use their study guides on their finals.

And he did his, or at least he turned in one that had writing on it.

...and this wasn't a scantron where he accidentally skipped a question and got off track? How the hell is that even possible?

With 4-5 options, even skipping 1 on a Scantron would be probably like 1 in a million to only get 3 right.

All these years later, Scantron is still going strong, good for them. Haven't heard that word in probably 10+ years.

Scantron and #2 pencils monopolized the school scene.

Poor #1 and # pencils.

I do scantron for these end of the year finals. No way am I going to be here forever tomorrow hand grading 60 question tests. But yeah, when I get an exceptional score like this I go back and check them by hand. This was a well earned 3.

I wonder if any company ever went out of business because they only produced #1 pencils? That would be like the 7 Minute Abs of the writing utensil industry.

This is amazing to me. The kid could have went all As and likely doubled his score or better.

Wait, a Scantron test, 4 options? And 3 out of 59 correct?

That's the unluckiest kid ever!
