Even if he is Muslim, that matters why? I am a church goin fella the last year or so. Never been big on organized religion personally. I believe in what I want. He can believe in what he wants. Doesn't make him any less than I
freedom of religion. He can follow whatever faith he wants. If he is Muslim though, he has been lying about it to the American public for quite a while though and that would be an issue.
And a president lying would be a first? Hell this lie would be a zero on the grand scale of presidential lies told to Americans in the last 30 years.
First, i do not care what " religion" he subscribes too. I grew up catholic in the bible belt so I know what it feels like to be brow beaten over your faith. Saying that, I am not much for organized religion these days. Back to Obama, who does he give too? If one candidate is scrutinized both should be. And why does it matter who Romney gives HIS money too? It is his fucking money! If I were Romney I would want to pay the least tax possible, and that is more in one year than anyone on these boards will make in a lifetime.

He didn't do that. He did not take his deductions to the fullest. He shows that he is either A) needs a new accountant b) wanted to keep his tax rate higher for political reasons
It stinks like shit on both sides of the fence. Obama catches shit that Romney does not. Romney catches shit that Obama does not. It all comes out in the end.

That we agree on. I just hate when people are blinded by party.
Call me ass backwards, but I actually want the rich guy as president. If he can make a fortune for himself, maybe he's more capable of fixing our countries financial f ups.
I do know that it's highly unlikely that any person completely agrees on every single issue of 1 side. I just look at the few things that I believe they will have the largest impact on, that I have the most concern about, then go from there. Rep / Dem, doesn't matter. I openly admit that I'm a Rep, but I don't always agree with every right wing view and I actually voted for Obama in '08. I had ZERO faith in McCain/Palin.

I admit to being a bit ignorant as I had never heard of this. What deduction did he not take?

If we elected Perot, we probably wouldn't have the debt / deficit that we do. We also might be missing a state or 2 and calling China daddy.

Brownbear. He in reality donated about 4 mil to charities. He claimed on his taxes only 2.5 mil in donations. Only logical explanation to me is either a shitty accountant or he wanted a higher tax rate for political reasons.

The IRS code only allows you to dedut a certain percentage (35% to 50% depending on the type charity) of your earned income as a charitable duduction and the rest is subject to carryover rules. Either that or he got would have been hit by the AMT tax which would have resulted in the same tax but he would have lost the carryover.
It sounded like he did something shady but it looks like he is just following the rules.
According to the documents made public this spring, he paid a 13.9 percent rate in 2010 and would pay an estimate rate of 15.4 percent in 2011. The new information just released from the Romney campaign shows that he paid a 14.1 percent rate in 2011. The couple donated over $4 million to charity last year—about 30 percent of their income—but only claimed $2.25 million of it as charitable donations.
"The Romneys' generous charitable donations in 2011 would have significantly reduced their tax obligation for the year," wrote Bradford Malt, the trustee in charge of Romney's finances, in a memo distributed by the campaign. "The Romneys thus limited their deduction of charitable contributions to conform to the governor's statement in August, based upon the January estimate of income, that he paid at least 13 percent in income taxes in each of the last 10 years."
Im just curious and would like to what has Obama done to destroy America? I keep hearing the he's a socialist, gonna take your guns, and the other talking points but what exactly has he done that is so radically different that past administrations?

He made the money through market exploitation and exporting jobs. Not really sure how raising military spending and cutting government programs in a down economy is going to help the nation get out of trouble. I am pretty sure we just finished an eight year run of Bush doing that same thing.

Exactly, he made money by buying companies then using those companies to buy other firms driving up the debts of these companies, selling assets and then sending the jobs overseas.
Whereas Obama just gave tax payer money to companies that took their jobs overseas. Or gave taxpayer money to green companies that just flat out failed.

I think it would be interesting to see where the money was donated.
Romney has, not surprisingly, gotten very generous in recent years when he was undoubtedly alrady planning his Presidential run. He increased his doncations from just over 10% to almost 30%. And during the time he was giving just over 10%, was he giving his 10% to the church (which he'd consider a requirement if he's a good Mormon) and not really donating anywhere else?
They break down his donations in the link. The other interesting things is that these people almost always give a large portion to a charity they run, which then allows them certain liberties with the money.
As usual, I don't trust anything any politician does, and I feel sorry for anyone that is swayed by his "generosity" in giving 30% for a two year period.
