So who's going to be the man?
Phil Jackson?
- Doubt it... I just don't think he's going to return.
Jerry Sloan?
- Historically runs a system that could work. Seems dull and workmanlike... could that factor in? Allegedly has interest and has already been contacted.
Mike D'Antoni?
- Offense would certainly pick up and Nash knows it. Kobe respects D'Antoni. No such thing as defense with him, but does it really matter with Howard standing in the paint? Rumor has it that Buss likes an uptempo style, reminiscent of Showtime... D'Antoni's 7 seconds or less style fits that pretty well.
Brian Shaw?
- Lakers would have to get the ok from Indy to talk to him, since he's under contract. Would have a good relationship with the players and would likely return the triangle offense.

Having 6 seasons worth of information and deciding a coach is worthy of coaching another season, then changing your mind after 5 games is certainly ridiculous.

Stan van Gundy should be the new coach.
To fuck with Dwight but I bet you he would do better than brown but that's not saying a lot

whats to say they didn't already have plans to get rid of him?
maybe they reached out to another coach and heard he had interest and decided it was best to just cut ties then.

SVG is the man.
He's been co-hosting entire shows with Lebby here and there, he's awesome.

D'Antoni to coach the Lakers. This should be interesting. Obviously its great for Nash and Howard might thrive trailing on the break for dunks and follows. Kobe is the question of course. Its hard for me to see him not being a bad fit for that offense kind of like Melo in New York.

i take great joy in finding out that Phil Jackson was 'stunned' and that he assumed 'it was his to turn down'.
what a pompous prick. overrated piece of shit. if you want to coach so badly, go take the Bobcats job and show us how much of a zen master you really are. of course he wanted to come back with a mini dream team.

Kobe can work in the system if they let him handle the ball as well... which is what I assume will happen.
Howard's rebounding will increase, but I don't think it helps him as much offensively as it's going to help Gasol. This offense is a great fit for Pau's game. He's very good at slicing to the basket and has a mid-range game that has to be respected.

I haven't read anything so they chose dantoni over Jackson? Wow
I assumed it was his to turn down as well but guess he was asking for to much special treatment and/or money.
Possibly a big mistake by the lakers as dantoni isnt proven as Jackson even of Jackson has had the greatest players ever on his team. He wins with them as he is supposed to do though

It's that Toronto air. That and any team that has to rely on Derozan is doomed.

I didnt get to see any of the Spurs Lakers game last night. I did watch the game cast on my phone though. Does anyone know why Gasol was shooting a 3 in the final seconds when they were down by 2? Lol
Go spurs go

Until I see the Lakers under the new Mike for a few weeks, I'm not passing judgment on anything they do.

I'd go a step further and say wait until Nash's has been back at the point for a few weeks.
