holy shit, i'm being pranked right now.
Sadly, he is right. GoDaddy.com is a bowl sponsor. They just had a tiff with Anonymous because they support SOPA. GoDaddy.com might not like the NDL dealing with their name. With one felt swoop, onlinedynasty.net is seized by Homeland Security. No trial, no discussion.

That isn't subjective. That's written in the bill plain as can be.
i realize its 'possible'.

do you realize the man hours it would take to do something like this? do you think they are throwing people in jail for downloading music? they are shutting down sites that make absolutely no money off the likeliness. come on, just use some common sense. sure it could happen... sure its a dangerous precedent but we're not fucking China and this bill isn't turning us into China.

people love to spread fear and believe in doom and gloom... its fucking nuts. we'll be okay and if this bill is half as bad as you guys think its going to be, something will be done.

do you think Joe Public is just going to sit around when Joe Neighbor gets sentenced to 10 months in prison for downloading their kids the new Justin Beiber album? i mean, come the fuck on.
uhh, ya? Brwnbear is already giving me the run around for not buying music, I'm ignorant, so I'm guessing anyone else who does, is as well.

1. Did you even hear about SOPA before Jay and I brought it up? I actually propose the opposite; people love to spread the "it will all work out" belief and I am starting to disagree.

2. Yes. You give Joe Public a kid, a new car, or a mortgage and suddenly they don't stand up for anything. It might be coarse for me to claim I know all about human nature because I've been in a bar/restaurant my whole life, but I come damn close. I see the transformation in people once you give them one speck of a good thing; you can take all the freedom and rights from them you want. NIMBY at its best.

In the end, I guess you should be as thankful for people like me and Jay as we should be thankful for people like you. I just choose to fight. Earth is my heaven. As per my religious beliefs, it doesn't get any better than this and I am going to fight until I can't.

1) yes, i had heard of it. i wasn't educated on it and i'm still not... but i had heard about it since i listen to nonsensical CNBC for 15 hours a day.

2) no, i think you sound like my dad who has spent his whole life telling me how the world is out to get us and how they 'keep the common man down' when in reality my dad does alot of compaining and screaming and blaming and never accomplishes or does anything.

Well, then, I am half like your Dad. I am here fighting the good fight; calling, writing, and kicking my feet the best I can. I still have 36.5 hours until I have to tell my father if I accept his law school offer. Perhaps I should consider what I have said in this thread!

I talk shit, but I come from moderately wealthy parents. I repeatedly refuse their help, ever since I got a paper route at 11. I just have hit so rock bottom that when I came back from Costa Rica, I needed his help badly and he said you have until the end of the year to have a plan. I have no plans and that is new for me as I usually always have plans (often bad ones).

Edit: And it isn't law school I am oppossed to. It is fucking undergrad. I have about 20 transferrable credits. That's 100 left. I HATE FUCKING COLLEGE! It is the exact opposite of what learning is about.

Still go. Worst case you'll bag a bunch of hot college girls. I went to the fucking sausage fest program Fire Protection. But now, I'm considering Phiosophy

We'll see. I talk big and bad about fighting for my right and, meanwhile, I am contemplating going back to school and I have an interview next week with a bank. HYPOCRITE!

Ok Shel, let me make it a bit more relevant and "real" to you:

Wiziwig--gone
Online streaming of games outside of ESPN3--gone
Justin.tv--pretty much worthless
Youtube--80% of videos will be wiped out

Don't forget:

NDL- very likely to go before a judge and the judge shutting it down

I'm not going to get dragged into this debate but the bill is garbage. The rules are very broad and can be interpreted many different ways. It's also another weak ass attempt to stop piracy.

Many businesses will just move offshore to avoid legislation. So what if they get blocked by search engines. They will just show back up under a different domain and IP address. You can't put the genie back into the bottle.

All of these attempts to stop piracy fail miserably. The only impact they have is impacting the end user.

Trendon - why not combine your passions. You like to fight the injustices of the world so why not do it as a lawyer. That would give you a little more bite to your bark.

When you can stop being an antagonist and start actually contributing to this discussion, I'll read what you have to say in this thread.

Undergrad, man. If I rush, I am still two years away from completing it. Plus, I hated college because I didn't learn a thing. It'll take me 5-6 years to complete the whole thing and I'll be 37-38. But, like I said, I promised my pops I'd have a plan. More to come in a few days.

I am definitely pro-attorney, though. As scary as it may seem, they are our only friends. You have to pay them, though! :)

Honestly I think it comes down to this. Anonymous is fighting their war in a wrong way. People have said they need to do this and if we the consumer gets hurt is collateral damage. Gee that sounds alot like something the government would say doesnt it? If they want a revolution, last time I checked you have to have the people to do it. No revolution can start without the masses. So this trick of shutting down a service that many peole use. (see how I didnt put the word like in there?) They will never get the people behind them no matter how good the message is. Fact is people may not like sony or other big businesses but untill they stop using the service and stop giving them money, that consumer isnt at the boiling point yet. Its just like the occupy movement. Sure big business and the government is corrupt to a point, but the people and I mean all of the people are not fed up yet, so you have a voval minority saying everyone is fed up when its just not true.

Do I wish the middle class wasnt dying at the pace it currently is? YES! but untill we the people reach that breaking point (whenever that is) there will be no revolution. Do I think Anonymous is a good movement? I do, but lashing out at the people and saying its ok for collateral damage, sounds alot like what we currently have and if they want to gather people to their movement, then why would I choose more of what we currently have in our government right now?
