Glad your boy is ok. Like Cnasty said, dont beat yourself up over it. I know how you feel, my daughter when she was 5 ran face first into a hot grill. Got several cuts and burns, and I was devastated for a few months. But everything turned out ok, and a year later, what I thought was going to be huge scars aren't even noticeable anymore.

Sounds like a rough night. Like everyone else has said, don't beat yourself up about it. When you are a parent, stuff like that is going to happen. Kids are resilient. He'll bounce back from this like nothing ever happened. That same fall probably would have killed us or at least laid us up for a few days.

You're not alone on this. Don't beat yourself up. These things happen. My youngest has a little scar above his left eye that's pretty similar to the cut on your boy's eyebrow. When he was almost two his brother and sister left the bathroom door open (if you don't already keep it closed) and he got up on the closed toilet, turned on the faucet, and was playing in the water in the sink. Some water got on the toilet seat and he slipped and banged his head on the edge of the counter. We went to the ER and they didn't do stitches, they used the super glue stuff and now you can only see the scar if you look closely. To this day that's the only accident that's happened on my watch with any of the three kids. That's also the fastest I've ever gotten into an ER. I walked in carrying him and had blood on my shirt and a bloody gauze pad on his head and they just pulled me right into an ER room.

I did that running around my living room when I was about 7. Brick doesn't mesh well with kids heads. Still have the scar from that one.

Peay, my boy got the super glue as well, dermabond. There was just a little blood, nothing crazy.

If it want for my sister who is a nurse and called the attending physician, we woulda been in for a long night. It was busy as shit in there last night.

Glad he is ok Shel. Looks gnarly, but now you can joke with him as he grows up how tough he is. And like Oracle said, stuff is gonna happen. Hopefully this is the only major instance and you got it out of the way early.

This morning i was actually looking and touching the corner that he hit, and thinking that same exact thing.

I can't imagine my head hitting that corner with the same momentum he had. Like you said, I woulda been fucked up, or at the least, whining or complaining about how much it hurt for days.

i'm not joking when I say, 5 minutes later, he was 100% fine and it never bothered him, noticeably, again. even with the doctor poking and prodding, getting strapped down for a cat scan, he handled all of it without crying.

Day of the lsu/Bama game part1, we were all outside. Wife and youngest were sitting in fold out chairs and he leaned to far and fell, no biggie. Wife grabbed him and said calmly " we gotta go to hospital". I came over and he hit his head just right on her chair giving him a nice two inch wide and all the way to the bone above his eye. He cried cause we had friends over and didn't want to leave. Had 4 stitches to close it.

Of course.

No clue how cause he was soaken wet just getting out of the tub, but I literally caught him with one hand around each ankle. I caught him right as he hit the corner, so he didn't come close to actually hitting the ground as well.

I just remember in the split second I had him by the ankles to getting him up near me thinking it was gonna be a bloodbath, a huge gash over his eye, a lip busted in half or something. Not nearly as bad as I thought, but it didn't make me feel much better though

was it the X man or your other one? Glad to hear he's alright...

When i was little my house had a ton of sharp corners right about head level when i was 4 or 5 and my mom told me I would take corners too quickly and run right into shit a lot. I don't know if your handy, but maybe round off some of the edges? I don't know just a suggestion

Not handy in the least. but they make these safety things, real simple. it's just very rubbery type things that are real sticky, we have them on the 4 corners of our coffee table in the living room.

You never really think you'll need em in the bathroom when they can't even reach the counter. But, being as simple as they are to put on, it probably wouldn't hurt. Good looking out.

I know that sinking feeling Shell! One time I forgot to latch the baby gate to the stairs and wouldn't you know it she spotted it immediately. She was 4 stairs up when I found her. Of course I made the mistake of rushing to her instead of talking to her and walking slow. By rushing she got scared and fell backwards down the stairs. Luckily I caught her before she crashed into the baby gate and possible the tile floor. Like you, worst sinking feeling in my life. Baby's are resilient beasts though...she was back up and playing in no time.

Try getting a phone call from your sister-in-law and the first words out of her mouth are "Hey, everything's okay, but..."

My oldest was hit by a car when he was 3 years old in a parking lot by a baseball field. My heart sunk like you wouldn't believe...He was okay, but not being there was just as bad and my wife describing it.

The good thing is everything is okay. That's a nice gash though. Did they use a liquid bandage or something? no stitches?
