It's not just the lakers jeff,it's the entire star treatment that goes on in the NBA.
The lakers game was only one of the disparities that actually held water for once but the officiating in these playoffs have been some of the worst i have seen in a while.
Its getting like soccer where every single player bitches about missing shots and calling for fouls and shit.
It makes these games unwatchable at times with all the crazy phantom whistles and then the no calls are even worse.

it's sickening that america enjoys this, or at least gives great ratings that keeps them doing it.
We're basically watching WWE basketball

lets not get ridiculous... if the NBA just wanted to get the best ratings and completely fuck over the game they'd have NY and LA in the finals all the time. NY hasn't won a playoff game in forever.
the refs are certainly questionable but its by far and away the best basketball played on the earth... pretty sure thats why people enjoy it.

Im going to agree with Dave.
None of us like to flopping and shit, BUT, it is part of the game, and it is a smart play.
and...stars have ALWAYS gotten the calls.

i think the rigged nature of it deteriorates the level of play, but w/e
NY hasn't been in the playoffs in a while, so that makes it hard to win a playoff game

Doesn't make it right and that is the problem. Instead of fixing the problems like other professional leagues they continue to have the worst officiating system in the market.
I'm not saying it's unwatchable and I love basketball but it gets comical at times with the favoritism and silly calls.

The NBA does a really terrible job at rigging the game if the Spurs can win 4 titles and the Pistons 1.

Tonights Bulls vs Pacers game at Conseco Fieldhouse
Prediction on fan attendance:
Pacers 55%
Bulls 45%
and the Bulls fans will probably be way louder!

lol i watched every game for the 3 years there when the pistons were in the hunt and it sure seemed like they were playing against more than their opponents. they were just a better team and somehow came out with a championship

So you name those five seasons however since 1980 besides those 5 listed teams every team that has won the title has had probably two to three HOF players on it and was a league wide followed team........if that makes any sense?

I think he was referring to the massive TV markets like LA, NY, Chicago, and Houston. San Antonio and Detroit are smaller markets. Miami is a deceptively small market. Like Dave's said many times, there's a large population but getting them to sit down and watch a game on TV is tough. I firmly believe that the NBA tries it's best to make sure large market teams beat small market teams. Some of the Pacers/Knicks and Pacers/Bulls series from the 90's made it clear to me.

Another great example. The one that really stands out to me was the year of the last lockout where they only played like 42 games. The Pacers played the Knicks in the ECF and San Antonio had already advanced. There were some ridiculous fouls called on the Pacers in the decisive games, including the infamous Derrick McKey/Larry Johnson 4 point play. The NBA had to have at least one large market team in the finals that year. There was no way in hell they were going to allow a SA/Indiana series to happen.

I have never really looked into fixing sports I just don't understand how shel always talks sample size but names just two teams that have done it in the last 20 something years.
