we drove by it. We were going and suddenly outta nowhere ppl jump out (in the dark) and yell STOP STOP. we pull over. Im about to yell at them like why the fuck are you jay walking!?!?! And suddenly were driving over glass, and my buddys like "thats a dead body on the ground". Turn, look, down on ground. I just saw the body, my friend said he saw his neck and blood was spewing out.
kept this close to the chest til it was 100% but now it is. With all the hoops and bs i went thru last few yrs with careers that were short cuts, I got accepted into a legitimate, pre apprenticeship program for Local 27 Carpenters Union.
I have to go to a class for 4 months, 7 hrs a day. if I maintain 70%+ (will get 90%+) and have a good attendance, im automatically a 1st year apprentice in the union, and 520 of my 1800 1st year hours will be accounted for cause of the program.
A buddy did it in February, and hes in the union, and needs 3 tickets (confined spaces, working at heights, whmis) and the rep will have him working and started as an apprentice. I have 2 of 3 but the Union wants their own which is fine.
Really excited for this. I thoguht with my education, i'd never have a chance, but they say this program is like the willy wonka golden ticket so I just need to start prepping for early mornings and by end of January, I could be 1 step in the right direction towards a very awesome career.
I also know that I wont be building cabinets and shit. Im being prepped for forming, framing and scaffolding. My buddy whos in his 2nd year in Plumbing told me that so long as I work my ass off and learn those 3, I'll never be outta work esp with the amount of condos that are going up in Toronto.
Very excited. I was about to kill myself like 2 months ago, and now every depression related illness i had is now gone.
Congratulations Nick and good luck with the training. Not a big fan of that working at heights talk lol. Hope that 2 months ago comment was a joke but congrats once again.
