Hate seeing these dudes commit suicide with kids, so fucking selfish.

He had 6 kids.

Not a fan of the "selfish" go to line when people commit suicide. It's pretty obvious anyone who does this has serious mental health issues. Can you imagine that in his head, something in his life was soooooooo awful that he felt like the best possible solution was to kill himself?

I think it's naive to think it's "selfish" to be honest. We can't really comprehend what's going on inside these peoples' minds, they're pretty obviously not thinking clearly.

is it weird i dont feel bad for Chester? this guy killed himself the exact same way Cornell did, in the same style, same place (door that led to bathroom) in the place they were (home to hotel), on Cornells birthday. This was premeditated and he left behind 6 kids. Dudes a millionaire. Selfish prick.

Not weird, but I think it's fair question if you understand how mental illness works if you don't feel bad for him or think he's selfish.

From what I understand he's had mental issues for a long time and got help many times, but obviously was never able to overcome. Dude is rich, famous, all that...and yet at this point in time he felt that the best possible solution to his problems was to kill himself. Doesn't that alone tells you that his mind was so fucked up that he wasn't able to think coherently to arrive at that decision?

money and fame and all that don't do much in terms of helping people resolve problems or make people any 'happier'

i know its my standard go to line, but people are people regardless of what they have. we all have the same issues just some of them are masked with different levels of excess.

some of the richest guys i know, i'm talking worth hundreds of millions of dollars who are getting fucked by models flown in on planes from all over the country are the most miserable humans i know. we all want what we don't have but when we get it we will always find other things to be miserable about. happiness comes from within and no amount of money changes that.

Couldn't be said any better!

Yes, money makes your life a little easier if you like nice things but that doesn't bring true happiness.

I do think suicide is selfish, especially for someone that hasn't had a tramatic event happen directly to them (not saying that is or isn't the case for him). I can understand suicide from vets who have been some truly horrible situations.

Mental illness doesn't hit only people who have had traumatic events happen to them.

Trust me I understand. It's something most of us will never fully understand unless we lived with someone that suffered from it ( I lived with someone with Alzheimer's but it's not the same as depression and what not)

Being 100% honest here, I don't think you can say I understand and also think someone who does this is selfish.

I just think those 2 thoughts have to be mutually exclusive.

This was right up the hill from where I live, maybe 10 miles away.

Anyway, things like this just reinforce, in my mind, that what you're saying is right. People with all the reasons in the world to be happy and live long lives kill themselves. Some people will feel anger toward those people (or nothing at all) but no one knows what it is like in someone else's head. I don't know that they think it is the best solution, but they (almost) certainly (and here I am acting like I'm in their head but...) think it is their only solution left.

Do you think all suicides are due to mental illness? I don't think that, I think some just have weak constitutions and go that route because they aren't strong enough to see the light.

Do you think someone who is seeing things clearly and making coherent decisions would off themselves?

But specific to this dude's case, he supposedly has had mental illness type issues basically his whole life, so why would you lump him in that department and think he's selfish and not the other side where he just had serious mental issues?

I know nothing about him, whether he had mental issues before (I'll take your word because I do not care about celebrities and their lives). All I know is he made great music. If there wasn't mental issues I think it's selfish, especially when you have children.

He's talked openly about his years ongoing battle with depression.

He was also molested as a kid, so there's that.

Didn't know any of it. I don't follow anyone on Twitter. I don't watch E!News. Hell I have a hard time watching ESPN anymore because it's more gossip than sports highlights.
