Saw that on FB this weekend and a literal WTF came out of me and multiple cringes and jumps.
Gators freak the shit out of me. I'd rather be that dude petting sharks then ever be that close to a gator.
Humans aren't very smart.

When you watch the video the 1st time, you assume the one adult is trying to keep the gator's attention to get the one kid out of the water. Ok, cool.
But then the next one jumps and almost lands on the gator. I don't know if that kid was just oblivious to what was going on, or it was just terrible on the adult's end to not make sure no kids were going in the water.
No clue, just a crazy video.

Chicago 4th of July fireworks show was epic!!
The Chicago Police Department says it is conducting "a very comprehensive review" after the city experienced one of its most violent Fourth of July weekends in recent years, with at least 102 people shot between late Friday afternoon and early Wednesday.

Like I tell everyone else, don't join a gang and don't go to one small area of the city and you will never worry. It's crazy how much the media pumps this to support their pro/anti gun control and how little 95% of the city even cares about this.

Doesn't Chicago have some of the strictest gun laws?

Yes, which is why groups that oppose gun control reform use Chicago as part of their argument and it gets so much play. It is a big problem in parts of the south side as their are so much drugs coming in via the cartel and so many rival gangs and that is where ALL of this violence happens. It is tragic and I do not know what the answer is but 95% of the city is amazing. Anyone who went to visit the city would never even know any of this and most people in the city are not that worried as they know where not to go. Even a tourist you can not really end up in the wrong area without several key indicators. If you did end up there you probably were trying to

Torontos becoming a little worse. They recently stopped carding so more people are concealing so it's leading to more weapon related incidents. Not on the level of Chicago but still more than before.

This is pretty spot on from what I've experienced. I'm in Chicago for various reasons about 6-8 times a year. It was only during my first or second trips there, about 15 years ago, when I somewhat accidentally ended up driving through a place that I clearly shouldn't have. I was driving up 94 (too dumb to take the Skyway at the time) and it was pretty jammed up. This was before GPS was really a thing and I just had a printed Mapquest map or something. I thought I'd be slick and jump off of the highway and fly up some side streets. The rail system kind of blocks you from running parallel on the east of the highway, so I found myself on the west side of it, driving through the Englewood area.
To be honest, I really enjoy going to Chicago. Tons of fun stuff to do in the main part of the city and when I'm traveling through to Milwaukee, there are a lot of good options for food/entertainment, that are near the locations I need to stop and visit. If you get away from the main part of the city and towards the 294 loop, there are tons of nice areas like Oakbrook, Orland, etc. Even the older areas like Rosemont are being heavily invested in.

I love Chicago. It's like any other big city. Do your research, be smart, and don't take risks and you'll be fine

every fireworks incident starts and ends the same. Absolute panic to start, and then by the end hysterical laughter that you survived something so stupid.

It's a common reaction to a lot of highly dangerous experiences. You see videos of people nearly getting shot and laughing. There was one that hit Yahoo last week about a female sniper nearly being taken out. I was in a car accident when I was 16 and remember calling my mom to tell her that the car was totaled and I laughed through most of the conversation. I don't know the psychological explanation, but it's a thing.
