Re: Random Discussions
So my 1 boy has always loved animals. Lately, he's taken it up a notch and only watches nature shows and basically always has some sort of book about animals at all times on him to read.
Friday night we were at a BBQ place, and he had turkey. About halfway through it he really had an epiphany that he was eating an animal that was killed for food. He stopped eating halfway through and told us he'd never eat food from an animal again. He proved his dedication on Saturday eating a PB&J for lunch and mac and cheese and snacks for dinner.
He gave it a valiant effort but it was just too much, he couldn't avoid those delicious Tyson chicken nuggets, and he gave in to the temptation today, on Day 2 of the 5 year old vegetarian process.
Kids are funny.

Being these kids only eat like 3 things, a hunger strike wasn't the best strategy.

My dad just sent me one of those old people chain e-mails and it had a video of 10 folks making mistakes with guns. About 6/10 almost shot themselves in the head doing something stupid.Wasted Memory wrote:

Re: Random Discussions
Just found out I am no longer going back to Iraq. I am a little disappointed that I will not get to finish watching the pushing out of ISIS from Mosul and Tal Afar.
I am going to Jordan though, with a possible site in Syria sometime down the road when it is a little "safer." Should be interesting to go to another country and learn a new mission set. I did find out that after landing in Jordan (around 30-40 hours of traveling) I get to take a 10 hour ride thru the desert to my destination. Now that SUCKS!

are you able to live a "normal" life in whatever city you're in or do you have to stay on some sort of military site the entire time?GeorgesGoons wrote:Just found out I am no longer going back to Iraq. Re: Random Discussions
No city where I am going. Probably bigger than my site in Iraq where the whole compound was about an acre big (if that big). And a big plus is we have a chow hall, but I am guessing we have to cook it ourselvesDRiccio21 wrote:are you able to live a "normal" life in whatever city you're in or do you have to stay on some sort of military site the entire time?GeorgesGoons wrote:Just found out I am no longer going back to Iraq. Re: Random Discussions
Not a clue. It's not the airbase the 3 soldiers were killed at last year. That's near cities and not 10 hours thru the desert as I was toldDRiccio21 wrote:is it an identified 'military' site or is it sort of 'undercoverish'

Re: Random Discussions
I love this shit! I enjoy embracing the suck. I also do it because I am extremely good at it. If you were on the ground you would want me watching from above, I know it sounds like I am full of myself but I KNOW how good I am. I can distinguish between a gun/rocket rail/mortar tube/rockets on the ground/etc... and a piece of irrigation equipment/sticks/etc... from 8k feet above and do it at a split second where it may take someone else minutes to figure it out. I know how bad guys walk and know what a town looks like that has enemy combatants in it mixed with civilians. ISIS makes the woman wear all black, so if you see a lady wearing any other color you know there isn't shitheads in the town. It took 3 months for me to explain this to the teams we worked with till they realized I kinda had a clue what I was doing.Cnasty wrote:And you do this because you like to?

And I do it because I am not ready for a real job.
