You HAVE to make that call. Do you give Alabama another 5 yards because the defensive end was in the neutral zone when he moved? Flag HAD to be thrown, if it's on Bama then its on Bama (and vice versa)

I just dont agree with the new rule. Now if the O line gets any d movement they can "jump offsides" and get the call on the defense. Its a shitty rule IMO. Defense should be able to jump and get back before the snap.

And with THAT said, if im an official, im not deciding the game right there with that call. You call it on the offense, its half the distance to the goal, and Bama gets a chance to win or lose it with their play, not on a judgement call

as for the rule itself... the guy can go off and get back and if he gets back and the lineman jumps at that point then its false start. seems like a fair rule to me.

No its not, thats the point. OL are coached now ---any D movement, and they can jump offsides and get the call against the D. It doesnt matter if the D gets back, its the "D causing the O to false start"

If the D moves at all, they will be in the neutral zone. At that point, the OL can "False Start" = Auto call vs the Defense. Thats fair? You will never see a D player in neutral zone and then get back anymore. All teams will coach their kids to fake false start to get the call. They used to at least have to snap the ball to get that call, now they dont even have to do that. I coach O line and I think its a shitty rule.

Next year, bama vs Tamu is opening weekend of sec schedule. Will be real fun and don't have to wait all season for rematch.

Disappointed in loss but learned also from last year season ain't over. Lot of season left. Anything can happen. Very least bama can win sec if it wins out. Still a great season. No reason to hang head.

dlines have been taught to fake moves to create a fall start for years.
