I suppose, but if you look at his minor league track record you'd have to question that status. At some point tools guys need to show some productionDRiccio21 wrote:he was a top 100 prospect before this season startedDRWebs wrote: I believe Dominguez was once a top prospect, but far from it these days

AA: .239 BA / .326 OBP / .390 SLG
AAA: .253 BA / .306 OBP / .404 SLG
I get that he's only 22 and that he was once the 12th overall pick, but this kid simply doesn't have it at the plate to make an impact and warrant that top 100 ranking (87th)
A former No. 1 draft pick of the Marlins, Dominguez has started to lose some of his prospect sheen. Selected as a defense-first third baseman, he still possesses Gold Glove potential at the hot corner but his bat has not developed as expected. Dominguez still struggles with pitch recognition and needs to be more selective. He doesn’t show much pop, a skill that is fairly important for a first-division starting third baseman

i get it... you still don't trade him for a aging guy and then blow up the team 3 weeks later.
that shows no vision or plan... which is par for the course for the Marlins

Then turn around and send Ramirez to LA and they're talking about Johnson to Texas (which i would love btw lol). After spending all that money in the offseason. Either the marlins owner is secretly a chick or he's fn hammered

i'm sure he'll be there soonjsence2 wrote:Braves get Dempster.

...here comes the jinx but Mets u84.5 RSW at the All-Star break may be the best wager I've ever made. Lucky first half then they've been absolutely snakebitten the entire 2H. They're making bad decisions bringing up the youngsters as all they need to do is wait til September and then they can keep them for another year. Wheeler better stay in the minors 'til then or they're even worse off than we think

Re: MLB Thread '12 + Jamie Moyer > King Felix - VVV
They just put Santana and Gee on the DL and designated Batista. Who exactly is going to start the games if they don't bring up someone from AAA?VeniVediV1ci wrote:i'm sure he'll be there soonjsence2 wrote:Braves get Dempster.![]()

I'm glad the Braves didn't mortgage the future to try to win now. I dont think that even w Dempster or Garza that we'd win it all this year.
The emotional pull is there (win one for Chipper!) but I'd rather hold onto Delgado and Teheran for the future, glad the Braves decided to pull out of the deal and glad Dempster hesitated and gave them time to do so.
As for the Marlins....wow. No plan at all.

While I agree that for the Marlins at least the ownership is heavily involved, the GM has to be a big part of it as wellmbyrd75 wrote:Then turn around and send Ramirez to LA and they're talking about Johnson to Texas (which i would love btw lol). also, ozzie guillen is a tool.

Didn't know about the ties with the GM, so good call there...as for the coach, I don't think they should have ever let go of Fredi Gonzalezajalves wrote:you been watching the Franchise? the Gm is is son in law or somethingDRWebs wrote:While I agree that for the Marlins at least the ownership is heavily involved, the GM has to be a big part of it as wellmbyrd75 wrote:Then turn around and send Ramirez to LA and they're talking about Johnson to Texas (which i would love btw lol). thats not the GM, thats David Samsom who is his son-in-law...he's the team president and Lebby-show regular. he's actually a really funny guy and a great business man. just happens to be a complete sleaze and totally ripped off the entire city of Miami, but thats kind of his job.

If you're bored Dave, an interesting take at least

If the Marlins don’t spend any of the money they just saved by getting rid of Hanley Ramirez, if they don’t extend Giancarlo Stanton, and they turn back into a low-payroll team that lives off revenue sharing, they should absolutely be crucified for that. But they haven’t done that yet, and it’s not fair to assume that is the plan simply because that was Huizenga’s plan 15 years ago.
If the Marlins do reinvest Hanley’s money into upgrading other parts of the roster, and they do get a good return for Josh Johnson before he breaks down again, there’s a pretty good chance that the 2013 Marlins will be better than the 2012 version. I understand why you might not think Loria deserves the benefit of the doubt, but a rush to judgement isn’t any better.
Re: MLB Thread '12 + Jamie Moyer > King Felix - VVV
its certainly fair... but its also fair to say that Hanley has never had a lower trade value than when they traded him and Carlos Lee's future is not worth getting rid of an even decent prospect if the plan wasn't to try to win this year.

Re: MLB Thread '12 + Jamie Moyer > King Felix - VVV
Agreed, I really didn't understand the Lee trade at all even with Morrison and Sanchez' struggles this season. There's going to be a lot riding on this Eovaldi kid so we will see how it pans out. It's like they took one step forward in the Sanchez/Infante deal and two steps back with the other onesDRiccio21 wrote:its certainly fair... but its also fair to say that Hanley has never had a lower trade value than when they traded him and Carlos Lee's future is not worth getting rid of an even decent prospect if the plan wasn't to try to win this year.

They will buy another title in a year or 2,sell millions of tickets, and be irrelevant for years again.

Lebby asked him that exact question, basically he said to Samson that they traded Hanley low and bought Infante and Buck high and that doesn't show vision or leadership. Samson's answer is basically the reason why he is such a great interview. Samson replied, "Guilty as charged."DRiccio21 wrote:but its also fair to say that Hanley has never had a lower trade value than when they traded him
