yeah fucking right
16-6 shots (5-2 s.o.g.), 62% possession in the 1H and 57% at the end
....have you WATCHED Germany this tournament?
They have killed teams on the counter attack--and Mueller was the guy leading it every time. They had 4-5 great counter chances in the first 70 minutes, and they got to the final third, and they didn't seem to have that playmaker to spring Podolski or Klose free.
Germany has not been a team that dominates possession, they sit back and absorb pressure (like they did today) and then attack off the counter. Mueller gave them an unpredictability on the counter; the lineup they had out there today was more rigid, less playmaking. Hence why I say, if he plays, Germany capitalizes on one of those chances, Spain has to press more, and then it's all over--just like against England and Argentina.
Germany won by playing against weak defenses and suspect goalkeapers. The reason their counter didnt work today is because they played against a very good Spanish defense.
I saw the other German games, but I also saw THIS German game and Germany was simply outclassed. Spain dominated. Casillas first touch in the second half came on a pass from his defense 20 minutes in.
Kinda silly to say if Germany would have capitalized on their chances they would have won. If Spain would have capitalized on their chances they might have won 6-0. Regardless, the better team won, again two years later.

VeniVediV1ci wrote:yeah, I bet them against Argentina.
That game was total domination besides Kloos shot so saying they should have won is ridiculous. Maybe sent it to extra time, but that's doubtful with St. Iker
Didn't say SHOULD have, said WOULD have
But, that's what happens when a ref gives a fucking retarded yellow card--we are all screwed out of a better match

The final should be a good one....I just REALLY hope that a Torres or Robben dive doesn't help decide the match.
srsly? you know its happening.

Ugh. I can't stand either one of them.
I'm honestly hoping that one of them tries it and the ref has enough balls to SEND HIM OFF. What better way for FIFA to say, Enough with the diving?!

is there any precedent to giving a diver a red?
I would think not, so on the WC stage that ain't happenin

Yes, there is. More precedent for giving yellows, but I've seen reds given.

Totti used to be a bit of a diver, he's cleaned it up a lot though.
That said.....anybody who has watched the Dutch this tournament can't deny that they're the biggest group of divers in the world. Sometimes I wonder if they have had memory loss and think they're at the local swimming pool.

the Italians from the last world cup were nowhere close to the Dutch this year.
It looked like they were running with cleats on wet linoleum...
...but Robben certainly looks like he could fit in on that team

Really dude? The Dutch have constantly rolled around, stayed down (especially Van Bommel, god he's a cunt), and the announcers have talked about it EVERY SINGLE MATCH they've played.
I've never seen ANY team, not even Liverpool, Real Madrid, Italy, ANY TEAM, dive and act as much as these Dutch. It makes me sick to watch. What makes it worse is that the refs don't have the stones to punish them for it.

Makes me wonder "what if" about him and Manchester United....what kind of strikeforce partnership would he and Rooney have been?!?!

This has been a terrific match, back and forth.
If the final is HALF this good, it will be a fun one to watch.

WOW.
For everything that went around the Suarez handball, this Uruguay side entertained throughout the tournament, they didn't dive, they didn't playact, and they attacked and played entertaining football. They gave us great finishes against Holland and again today, and for that I applaud them.
If Forlan had hit that goal, it would've been one of the most memorable in World Cup history. But, the bar worked for them against Ghana, not so much tonight.
