Because Texas!
Re: 2016 Presidential Election
ok 1 more Q. so is it 1 person/state? and if yes, what happens? Trump doesnt get those electoral votes but still wins? or he gets them and it's just noted 1 person was against it?
Re: 2016 Presidential Election
each state has multiple electoral votes, i would assume someone from each district is responsible to register each of those votes.
basically one of the dudes who is supposed to vote trump decides against it. the rest of the state votes for the guy they are supposed to and ultimately it doesn't matter other than that one guy stroking his ego trying to be bigger than the process cause he 'knows better'.

Re: 2016 Presidential Election
Trump tweets about some new AF1 plane being 3 billion and he said nope! Boeing responded and said the contract is 170mil.

Re: 2016 Presidential Election
Boeing is going to build 2 planes with all those special capabilities for just $170mil?
Re: 2016 Presidential Election
170 million is a lot of money?
I know its AF1 but..
How much does a Boeing plane cost?
Boeing's single-aisle 737 is the world's most popular aircraft — there are more of them flying around than any other jetliner. It's also Boeing's smallest and most affordable commercial aircraft. The company lists the price of a 737 as between $51.5 million and $87 million, depending on the model.
Plane must be made of gold to cost 3 billion...
also this
Here's Trump's tweet: Boeing is building a brand new 747 Air Force One for future presidents, but costs are out of control, more than $4 billion. Cancel order! The price for the two planes was not specified at the time, but the list price for one 747-8 is $378.5 million, which works out to $757 million for two.44 mins ago
so even if its 757 Million.. still noit 4 billion like President-Elect said.

Re: 2016 Presidential Election
Do you think the government is buying these things "off the lot" so to speak? The two (or three) that get built will be the most highly customized planes on earth. 2.9 billion is the estimated cost over 5 years and another billion dollars wouldn't be unheard of...actually it would be about par for the course when it comes to aircraft budgets.nick wrote:170 million is a lot of money?

Re: 2016 Presidential Election
Except the GAO reported that an estimated $2B of the $4B cost was for research and development work planned for 2010-2020. What I would want to know is what you have to research and develop for $2B?
Clearly they're not off-the-shelf planes, they have special safety, defensive (flares maybe, or other countermeasures to being shot-down?), and communications equipment. But it seems somewhat preposterous that we don't have/know what all that other special equipment is. So you take a current, state-of-the-art aircraft (the 747-8 is new as of this decade) and slap in all that great technology. If the list price for a 747-B is ~$380M, and you slap another few hundred million in specialized equipment, you'd still be down at a total under about $1.5B for both planes.
If the original total was including ground maintenance/service and operating the aircraft for some period of time, that's another thing.
But if they're truly spending $2B on R-n-D... that's a bit silly.

Re: 2016 Presidential Election
So what is the $170mil number Boeing tweeted?
Re: 2016 Presidential Election
What seems most likely is that the currently awarded contact is $170 million. They're closing over previously completed contacts related to the aircraft and follow on contacts that are contingent on this one completing.
According to several articles, the planned fiscal costs between 2015 and 2021 are nearly $3 billion. No word on of the full value of that is with Boeing.

Re: 2016 Presidential Election
so Russia was involved in the progress. Good to know. Im sure it always happens just funny cause US is usually picking who they want in power, not the other way around..
Re: 2016 Presidential Election
i will say.. what were seeing in the white house right now is what happens when losers get trophies too. what are the Dems doing crying about the "russian hacking" when the DNC has been leaked rigging it so Hillary could beat Bernie? lol how come that doesn't matter? and what did the Russians do? All they did was release info with Wikileaks thats truthful and honest. Kind of fucked up.

Not even sure I understand what's going on with that. So the Russians hacked the democrats? Ok, that's your fault/problem Democrats. What am I missing?
