fun fact. if you add up all demands it equals $732 million. I assume the amount they want is roughly connected to how much we have available to sped so you divide by 30 that means 24.4 mil/team on avg they have available for UFAs.. give or take

So . . . I'm confused at the logic here . . .

Meet Mike Brennan . . . Houston Alcoholics owner. HE is patient (tolerant), charitable (fiscal personality) and has a priority to win. Houston cuts their previous year's expenses by $47.3mil (-$116.7mil in '68 to -$69.4mil in '69) while increasing revenue by $38.1mil (+$78.9mil in '68 to +$117.1mil in '69) over these past 2 seasons. We even made it to the World Series and were 4 outs away from winning the whole thing. On top of all that, we increased our fan interest by a whopping 35 points (49 to start '69 and 84 before end of Arb) yet my owner is still "upset".

On top of that, in '68 I came into the season -$45.4mil and my owner chipped in $31.3mil (69% of debt) to help out. In '69 I come in -$83.2mil and he gives me $58.2mil (69% of debt) to help me get out of the hole. This year, after all the cutting back and cleaning house to try and get my finances in check (as well as all the winning), I come in -$28mil and he only gives me $11.9mil (39% of debt). Granted he did increase my budget by $17mil, but why would he not put chip in $31mil - $58mil (like he did the last 2 seasons . . . which would have put us in the green for the 1st time in several seasons) to get our asses out of debt? That makes NO sense to me.

Owners aren't giving us any money anymore.

Is he using the previous seasons profits to chip away at your debt, is that what you mean?

Refresher on finances for anyone who needs it:

Owners do not matter in any way, we take away any influence they could have had (debatable if it was any) and control budgets ourselves as it is 100% based on regular season revenue. Any emails you get about your payroll/budget from your owner is garbage and a thing the game does automatically. So, the more consistently you win and keep fan interest up the higher you can grow your budget. If you made 100,000,001 last season in the regular season your budget the following season will be 101 million.

As far as cash goes, the game has a built in fail-safe that does not want you to get too deep in to debt so no matter what type of owner you have the further you go in debt the more cash they give and if you barely lose/profit then nothing happens. If you see your owner took cash away it is just because you were going to have more than 50 mil in cash and we do not allow you to have more going in to a new season.

If you look at your misc expenses for each year you will see a red number taking away the exact amount that your owner gave you as it is one of the things that happens during rollover.

So, win consistently without going so far in debt to force a rebuild while incrementally increasing your fan interest and budget is the way to go and you will always know what the next seasons budget will be or at least a rough estimate if you track your revenue in the season we are currently in.

I came in the league at 2056 Houston is 921-1317. Just think you owe someone some money. One season can’t erase all that. Last owner was like fuck it I am out of here.

Funny how it too me 50+ season to finally start asking questions...

I still don't get it. I just learned last season (in July) that I shouldn't worry about expected revenue when adjusting ticket prices during the season. Adjust tickets to keep the stadium >75% full. We will see how it works for a whole season now.

I still.dont officially get it either, but ya, found out about the ticket prices during the season and apparently I was charging about $6 too much. Dropped it and the stadium started to fill (helped I was winning, too). So, like u, excited to see how a full season of correct ticket prices will effect my income.

Ran was also the one and only owner to get an OOTP bailout as Reign cleared all of his debt a while back and he STILL messed it up after that

Well, to be clear...when the team was brought in to the ML the previous CPU owner signed 2 catchers at MAX deals in both terms of dollar amount and length.

Now...I agreed I didn't help the situation when I didn't know what I was doing (both then and over the yrs). But that was one huge contributing factor to the bailout that I didn't even know about until someone else pointed it out to me.

Point remains, you are the GM/Ford of the NDL OOTP :)
