Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
I like Barboza in general, but he doesn't really have any striking defense. Offensively, he's incredibly well-rounded. Defensively, he has little head movement and has to rely solely on that stick and move tactic to avoid getting beat up. It's like there is no middle ground with him. He's all the way out, exploding in with kicks or great combos and if the opponent lets him have that distance, he's successful. But the minute someone gets inside of his reach (especially with those kicks), he's got no answer.

Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
Been reading in a couple of different places that it looks like Connor McGreggor will get the next shot at Aldo if he disposes of Siver quickly, which he should. I thought whoever won the fight last night and if they did it in dominant fashion they would be next in line. I thought Edgar looked great and should be the next in line. I think Connor can beat Aldo. I don't think Edgar can, however I do believe he would beat McGreggor. The belt could change hands a couple of times in the next 2 years.

I really don't know what to make of McGregor (McGoat), but I do think you're on the right track. I could definitely see him causing problems for Aldo, that Frankie couldn't. I also see Frankie taking McGoat to the ground and wearing him out. It definitely looks like a rock-paper-scissors scenario.

Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
What is his background? Was he a wrestler in college? How long has he worked on his BJJ and striking?

Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
He's been training BJJ with the Gracie brothers, doesn't get much better
No background outside of pro wrestling, but the guy is a hard worker and true professional, he's no Bobby Lashley
They're saying either welter or middleweight

I fully expect him to end up in a body bag...a high buy-rate body bag.

Whatever judge gave that fight 49-46 to Lawler should be stripped of their job for life. What a fucking joke. Hendricks dominated that fight....and you give Lawler 49-46 and the title?!?!?!

I hope he comes out to cult of personality. Song will last longer than the fight.BIGmike wrote:I fully expect him to end up in a body bag...a high buy-rate body bag.

My point was that he's learning from the best.

Re: MMA / UFC - Official Thread
Just watched the whole card, from early prelims to the finale. Pretty good card overall. Some thoughts:
Glad to see Duffee back.
Loved that choke by Pennington.
Eddie Gordon's nickname from here on out should be Rip Van Winkle, he probably is still asleep from that kick. WOW!
Pettis is freaking good. I cannot wait to see one of my favorites at LW, Khabib Nurmagomedov.
There is no way in hell Lawler won that fight. I thought the first round was a toss up, Lawler started out hot but faded in the second part of the round. Hendricks dominated the 2nd and 3rd round. He also dominated the 4th until the very end when Lawler was hitting him with elbows and hammer fists. Lawler won the last round no doubt though. I am hoping there is a rubber match, Rory MacDonald can wait.
Didn't Hendricks double up Lawler on significant strikes landed? How does he lose that? All those judges should be fired. Someone told me Lawler won before I watched the fight so I was trying to see which rounds he won and I don't see any besides the 1st (questionable to me) and 5th.
