Wow, that is a surprise to me.

Maybe it shouldn't be, but the notion that any NBA coach should ever be fired for performance a mere 5 games into a season is laughable IMO.

he's horrible. so it shouldn't be that much of a surprise.

he couldn't win with Lebron and he couldn't win with Kobe/Howard/Gasol/Nash ... i think that's enough chances for this guy. Go back and sit with Pop in San Antonio and hope they give you that job when he leaves.

I don't disagree with the overall premis. My issue is, if he was your chosen guy before the season, it's absolutely ridiculous for him to all of a sudden not be your chosen guy FIVE games into your season.

meaning even though it regular season .. with those 4 guys,,, you should not go 1-4 and 0-8 in the preseason..

I mean have you seen the Lakers.. watching them so far this year is painful. They all looked lost out there.

Preseason is completely meaningless.


The Heat shouldn't have started 8-7 with the big 3, but they did, and they have since been the most successful team in the NBA.

he had Kobe, Bynum, Gasol all of last year... they tied for 3rd with Memphis in the West.

he's not a good coach.

sample size is about 6 seasons of him coaching and getting by on having Lebron/Kobe & crew lead him to good overall records but sucking in any situation he had to actually coach in

this isn't his first season

and its certainly not 'ridiculous'. if the team doesn't respect the guy already and he has them running an offense that makes no sense given the talent they've acquired then its better to cut bait now than create a bigger situation down the road when they are 30-20 later in the year.

now they can just bring in a different coach that 'rolls it out and lets them play' and they'll probably win a shit load of games on the talent alone

forget sample size..running an offense that takes the ball out of steve nash's hand is just plan dumb... Dave is right, the players were frustrated and didn't respect the coach, and were like what is this Princeton offense shit.
