Scale of 1-10 with "1" being least possible and "10" being most possible.
What he said is a six.
6 outta 10 that the government gets wind of this little league we have going, has some sort of boardroom meeting about the NDL, and decides that they have to shut down the NDL, government mandate?
i feel like I'm being US Senator'ed right now.
This comment right here proves you absolutely nothing about this bill.
EA, movie studios, the NCAA, the universities whose logos we use, the bowl games whose logos we use, the AWARDS WE GIVE OUT--every single one of those organizations can ask that we be shut down for using copyrighted materials on our boards without permission. They go to a judge, boom--the NDL is shut down.

From what I'm reading, the government has you all right where they want you--you see "SOPA", you think "piracy" and that's where it ends.
Like I said, read the wording they've slipped into this bill, they've given themselves serious intrusions into our rights with no legislative insight.
1) They brought the bill up during Christmas, when few people pay attention to shit
2) The committee that is debating it has people on it who OPENLY TESTIFIED that they don't know how the internet works and don't know what half the things in the bill will do
3) The committee brought in 17 people to testify for SOPA, and 1 person to testify against it
4) They tried to keep the bill from being read aloud in hearing
These are all signs of a bill that they want to quickly pass without the dirty little details getting out.....yet nobody cares. They just think "oh, it'll stop people from downloading music". When this passes, you'll wish it hadn't.
You know how China's government can control the internet of their people, what they can see and shit? Yeah....get ready.

Sadly, he is right. GoDaddy.com is a bowl sponsor. They just had a tiff with Anonymous because they support SOPA. GoDaddy.com might not like the NDL dealing with their name. With one felt swoop, onlinedynasty.net is seized by Homeland Security. No trial, no discussion.
That isn't subjective. That's written in the bill plain as can be.

i realize its 'possible'.
do you realize the man hours it would take to do something like this? do you think they are throwing people in jail for downloading music? they are shutting down sites that make absolutely no money off the likeliness. come on, just use some common sense. sure it could happen... sure its a dangerous precedent but we're not fucking China and this bill isn't turning us into China.
people love to spread fear and believe in doom and gloom... its fucking nuts. we'll be okay and if this bill is half as bad as you guys think its going to be, something will be done.
do you think Joe Public is just going to sit around when Joe Neighbor gets sentenced to 10 months in prison for downloading their kids the new Justin Beiber album? i mean, come the fuck on.

shel311 wrote:Keep trying to belittle me little man, I know it makes you feel better about yourself, so have at it.
....really? That's what you think this is about? First of all, I'm not trying to "belittle" you; you've made it obvious by the things that you've said that you know jack shit about this bill that you haven't been fed by the MSM or talking heads. You've made it known you don't read things that are long; this is 117 pages long. It's worth reading. There are draconian clauses in there that are very dangerous precedents to be set.
And "belittling" you doesn't make me feel better about myself, I'm not that shallow. Stop being a sheep and actually do some research. You want to laugh at what I'm telling you, fine. It doesn't make it any less true or make it any less of a possibility simply because you want to act like it's not a possibility, or act like I'm stupid, or off the wall, or whatever the hell you want to do. If you want to pretend everything is roses and candy then go ahead.
Want to know the funniest thing about this? The very group that you're bashing has proven that the very people in Congress, and the very studios that are behind this bill....have all committed piracy themselves. Lots of it. Just look it up on Google.

uhh, ya? Brwnbear is already giving me the run around for not buying music, I'm ignorant, so I'm guessing anyone else who does, is as well.
