He's been dead in terms of being an actual coach the last 10 years, ala bobby Bowden. They were trying to outlive each other for the record

Probably. He's probably another one of those people that works to stay alive. When he retires there won't be much time left. Andy Rooney is the most recent example but I know there's tons of others.

What is somewhat weird, and I can only base this on the fact that I was on a jury for a major child molestation case in Long Beach earlier this year, is that he did these things where people would (and did) catch him.

And the wife probably knew (would be my guess). In the case I served on, the guy had been doing stuff for decades, including doing things while living with his parent's when he was in his 20s/30s. There is no way they didn't know what was going on in that case, and there are definitely people in this case that knew and didn't say anything.

The guy in the case I served on was found guilty and there was a ton of evidence. But people that knew, and testified about what he did, but never came forward before the trial aren't guilty of anything except poor judgement, at least in the eyes of the law.

This part is really strange. I don't know if it's just Joe being stubborn or what. But the pieces don't quite add up. I read this also. It almost makes me wonder if these 2 (Curley/Shultz) lied to Joe and told him that they had taken care of it and turned it over to authorities and it was being investigated. And now Joe is saying he isn't going to be the fall guy and is going to blow up everything before it's all said and done. Joe's son (not the idiot Jay), Scott, has been on tweeter saying that Joe was prepared to go to the press conference and answer questions. The school pulled the plug on it.

Joe is 99 years old. why would he admit or take any blame and ruin his legacy even more?

at this point he's going to deny til he dies.

all those guys care about is legacy when that get that old and he wants to try to save his

I stand by the school... as long as this is handled swiftly and accurately. No BS. I don't want to hear about this again in 6 months, as it relates to more info coming out of the university.

Penn State needs to be held accountable--not by the NCAA, but by the parents of college athletes and students, and potential college athletes and students. Send a message with your commitments and your checkbooks. That'll hurt more than anything the NCAA can and will do. This is a moral outrage and I'm disgusted by all of it. As a survivor, I am absolutely shocked that this was simply "reported" and nothing more ever happened. Something like this, you follow up on it to whoever you need to; you make DAMN SURE that a guy handling children's charity work who has allegations made like this against him is fully vetted and that he's taken out of that position until more is discovered.

I hold Paterno responsible for not doing more, I hold the AD responsible for not fulfilling his duty to his student athletes, and I hold the president responsible for not ensuring the safety of his student body (and if anybody makes a joke about that comment, go fuck yourself). none of those obligations were met, and all of their heads should roll.

I don't need to read any of it. I don't want to read any of it. The man should be thrown into the biggest prison yard in the county and the guards should turn their backs. Let him learn what it feels like to be afraid all the time, to live through hell all the time, to have the emotional and mental anquish that comes with being abused. Enjoy your time in prison, Sandusky.

trendon wrote:Don't teach your kids to be pussies. Teach them to question everything. Sophomoric sounding, but it is why children get taken advantage of by adults - especially people who have a direct impact on them.

As a survivor of abuse, this is the biggest line of bullshit I've ever read in my life. I like you Trendon but you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. I was three years old and my own father abused me. It has nothing to do with 'questioning' things or 'being a pussy', you have no idea how something like that can affect you or how much emotional and mental anquish that puts you through. You can "teach a kid" all you want, but until you're in a situation like that, you have no clue what you're talking about. This is on an entirely different level above being bullied at school or having a stranger give them candy. This is someone that many of them knew and trusted. Why do you think that these sick people prey on children? Because they're not emotionally or mentally developed to the level where they always know what is right or wrong REGARDLESS of the person committing the act.

JoePa needs to be fired, immediately. PSU has handled this horribly. And I hope they pay for it.

Imagine sitting through two weeks of testimony of this kind of shit as juror. I had some pretty awful nightmares and I'm not normally a nightmare type person.

This really bad for the school, but to have NCAA get involved is not needed. I think the school will be punished enough by the bad reputation, and with all the legal stuff coming. But honestly this coach is no different than a serial killer. He should be executed for all the crap that he did to these boys. And to all the people that stood by and didntspeak shame on them aswell thats ridiculous!

Execution for anything other than premeditated murder is excessive in my opinion.

Besides, if you believe in "an eye for an eye" then he'll get what he gave when he's in prison (or should if they don't isolate him).

I wont tell ya how to think, but the reason why I say execute him is because he changed all these boys lives probably for the worse. I mean I have heard where especially boys when stuff like this happens they go on to commit suicide later because of the shame or turn into druggies or allkies. This one man basically killed all these kids chances at having a normal childhood and possibly a normal adulthood. So in my eyes he is no different that a serial killer who physically ends lives, because this guy emotionally probably killed more than a few.

i understand what you're saying MAC but you just can't make leaps like that.

what if i say i feel the same way about rape, then someone else says they feel the same way about drunk driving, then someone else says they feel the same way about hitting your kids with a belt.

its just a slippery slope. he'll get his in prison, hopefully. and hopefully his victims can be rehabilitated.
