I followed two tips I read on gaming tailgate and haven't had any troubles so far. Don't remove your whole playbook at once and make sure your # of plays in each formation are in multiples of three's.

Re: First thoughts about NCAA Football 2012
Day 1 Thoughts:
- Running the flexbone will be tough. There seems to be a lightning quick closing speed for the option defender on the corner.
- Super defenders exist. I saw this in the demo when an LB picked off a 25yd pass, while he was in his 10yd drop. 40" verticals in gear are common. (will hope zone for sure.. but is annoying)
- Dominant oline = run all day. If you've got the edge in the line, it looks like you can consistently grind out drives. (on heisman)
- I absolutely can't stand the freeze when you hit triangle to run hurry up.
- 4 verts is still money. (bummer)
- Outs/corners are defended much better.
- Slants/drags and slot WRs will continue to be key routes/players, just like 11.
- For some reason, I'm struggling with switching players. I'm trying to remember if a button changed or something, because I keep hitting X. I need to get used to this and I'm not sure why I'm screwing it up.
- Playing manual DB is MUCH more like old school days. (whew, I thought I was just losing stick skills in my old age... probably am)
- I don't mind the over throws, but I had 3-4 passes last night that hit the WR square in the hands on crucial 3rd downs and they dropped them. That is annoying. I don't want to use 'conservative' catch all season, but if this keeps up, I will.
- Custom playbooks... omg, what more can I say... AWESOME! I spent 2hrs last night just screwing around with them. This is going to be SO nice for playing the game. There are always plays in a formation that I will never, ever run... so it will be nice to cut those out of the play call screen. I will say this, there is a tendency to build playbooks with a lot of similar plays, so be sure to keep your offensive varied. I'm looking forward to the rest of the week as I continue to find the perfect custom playbook, while testing out Oregon and potentially other teams for the draft!

Re: First thoughts about NCAA Football 2012
My day 1 thoughts:
First thing that jumped out at me THE CASE. O-M-G. This case reminds me of Ncaa 06. I think that was the last time they used double bonded plastic. It opens and closes as clean as any case I have ever had with NCAA.
The disc it self I give a b+, could stand to be a little lighter but I am sure EA is on that for NCAA 13.
The Game itself- Double Fucking Rainbow, I am glad the finally listened to us and gave us what we wanted. How many arguments have we had over the years on the board about the fucking grass?!?!? Well, we can now stop all the bickering, the grass is now perfect. Beautiful, lush grass that shows wear as the game goes on. Gold star for EA for listening to us.
I dont know about yall, but my jaw dropped when I saw shadows on this game. Holy shit, the shadows on this game give this game such rich detail and drasticly changes how this game plays. Another gold star for finally listening to the NCAA fans and fixing the shadows. Another argument we will never have to have again. I remember back in 07, I almost drove to nashville ( I got all the way to Gallatin) in my underwear with a broken beer bottle and duct tape to beat the living fuck out of Jeff Mo after another one of our epic battles over the shadows in the game.
Online real time weather that actually works. Just stop EA, you are going above and beyond expectations now and are just showing off. I mean if its raining down coon skin caps in Knoxville, its in the game. I swear I almost smelled the rotting of the dead trees on toomer's corner when I played the game yesterday.
The play calling screen, after years of muscle memory on how we call plays, what does EA do? Thats right, once again keeping us on our toes and changing it up. They are so far ahead of the curve its amazing. No more left right to flip through plays, its now up down. Sneaky Sneaky EA, you guys are fab.
Another Huge addition, I will call it the Beefy addition. Some times I get confused and have no clue what to do after watching the awesome intro screen. I dont know if I need to hit x,L3,triangle, etc.... to start the game. Dont worry your pretty heads now, They put "PUSH START" in 64 point font. You cant mess this up anymore guys. no more waiting 7 mins and 36 secs for the game to load, we will be at a crisp 7:24. Boom!!
EA is not all about adding new features, they also know when to leave stuff alone that is perfect like the play by play. who the hell needs new play by play from Nessler and Herbie? I am glad for the 4th year in a row there is no new phrases from Herbie and Brad. You knocked a homer the first time, just set the bat down, go to the dugout and admire your longball for the next 9 innings.
My head is still spinning, but so far A+++ and I cant wait for another stellar 3 seasons of the NDL. I only hope we get the ladder going and Wargames back.

Dont get pissy cause I threw stones at the only game youll play for longer than 2 weeks by insulting the greatness of COD.Cnasty wrote:I mean its not COD, but its better.

I don't know if it's because I'm playing this on a newer TV but did the gameplay graphics take a hit this year? I know they talked about the dynamic shadows and all that crap but I feel like I'm playing a ps2 version when actually running a play.
I do like the gameplay mechanics however, or should I say at least so far.

Not sure there shift. I played 11 on a 50" Mitsubishi rear projection and now I'm playing 12 on a "42 LED... it looks freakin' incredible compared to 11.

So far I've played 12 on a 42 inch Philips LCD and a 42 inch Panasonic Plasma.Shiftdnb wrote:I don't know if it's because I'm playing this on a newer TV but did the gameplay graphics take a hit this year? Philips LCD looked like shit, squiggly smeary lines around all the players in cut scenes and just after the huddle.
Panasonic Plasma looks beautiful, significantly better than NCAA 11. No smears or anything, very fluid.

LOL, Having some fun. Its the same game we been playing since 94. Hasnt changed much over the years. I just chuckle at folks who think each version re-creates the wheel on the previous version.

New to the league?

Re: First thoughts about NCAA Football 2012
I was talking with someone about this on AIM last night. To me it has been the same game since probably 05. I just get on and try to find the best settings I like (AA, Heisman) vote fpr those settings when it comes time, then play all my league games. I think I speak for many when I say if this league didn't exists I would save myself 65 dollars a year. God I sound old.BFiVL wrote:Nole4real wrote:wow @ biffy

Not being a dick, being serious.
Has anyone acted like that? I think we are all pretty much in agreement nothing drastic has changed enough to warrant an "amazing" type review.
Maybe Im missing them.
I think we are on the same page completely.

Re: First thoughts about NCAA Football 2012
How many first day thought over the years have we seen giving this game high ratings while downgrading the previous game over the years? And how many feel the same about the game day 364 as they did day 1? Not being a dick either, I enjoy the game, but chuckle at excitement that always turns in to bickering over shit in the game.Cnasty wrote:Not being a dick, being serious.
