Ok, just got mine setup. I forgot my parents had DirectTV now so I used them as a reference. Sorry about that.

With the reference and rebates mine comes to just under $50 a month.

I got the Direct Choice one
The DVR that plays in any room
3 months of various movie channels
NFL ticket
The cinema thing

I also cancelled my Tivo. The Tivo guy did tell me that Tivo and DirectTV are working on a new Tivo box together. I believe you can just upgrade your current DVR once it comes out. Should be great because I love Tivo.

When do you get yours installed Hoos?

Mine was supposed to be like 3 weeks from now but I was able to get a spot tomorrow.

Pumped to check it out.

I could have gotten it installed on Monday but I decided to wait until next Saturday so I wouldn't have to take off from work.

vicktim7 wrote:call and ask for a discounted rate. the normal rate is $300. if you call and say "cancel sunday ticket" at the prompt, they should send you to a representative. you can go at them two ways: my friends got a deal for $179 or you can do the hardball "i want to cancel" routine. i did choice one and got no grief. everything is included this year as far as superfan and hd goes. you might play hardball and get the nfl-to-go stuff for free for watching on your phone and computer.

i called this number: 800-353-4388

someone told me it was a preferred customer number with less wait time. who knows? i got through really quickly, though. they said the system is down right now for about another hour, but they noted my account for when i call back later.

redzone channel and 30 minute replays FTW!
just saw this..

getting the discounted rate.. on the go free... and 3 free months of HD.

really appreciate this heads up.

Just dropped off my cable box and thought they would try to keep me, not at all.

5 second transaction and was done. DirecTV guy will be here soon for the install.

I guess Brighthouse is aware of the free NFL Sunday Ticket as there was a small line of people cancelling their service.

I have a dish that has been on my house for 5 years from the previous owners I guess.

I hope that doesnt hinder the install or possibly help if the wire is run? No idea.

I guess Ill test out the connection as its set to pour this afternoon.

You might want to call and ask Direct this ?

I heard on my talk radio this morning on wall street journal today. that COMCAST (?)
is suing Direct TV for false advertisement. Supposedly Direct TV is having you all sign up for a 2 yr contract? just asking
Supposedly Direct TV will charge you all for what you are getting for free now next year. which === a very high bill?

just mentioning that you may want to look into it if you already have not.

those are always the strangest things to deal with. you don't want to follow them around and pester them or make them think you don't trust them, but you don't want to put off the vibe that you think you're better than them by just sitting around acting like they aren't there.

you can only offer them a drink so many times. if you're not careful, you'll end up best friends:

I just had my cable hooked up last month and the dude shows up sweating bullets. I offer him something to drink and tell him to help himself in the fridge and he was so thankful; like I was a hero. Apparently, there are people out there who don't offer drinks or food to the people who work in your homes in this weather. Asses.
