Would love to hear from Billy. Text him up yesterday morning about him and the family and again today but haven't heard anything.

Same. Sent him some messages on Slack letting him know we are all thinking of him and if we can do anything at all to hit us up.GeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Fri Feb 25, 2022 1:47 pm Would love to hear from Billy. They are safe for now and convoying as fast and far west as they can into Moldova.
Its been absolutely crazy as you can imagine but so good to hear from him.

Re: Politics and stuff
Just BS'd with Billy a second ago. They just left Dnipro about 90 minutes ago and are enroute to Moldova. I google mapped it and it's like a 9 hour drive. They are staying north of Odessa

More from Billy
His family is with him. He is in a convoy with the OSCE (or something like that), who he described as a dumbed down UN. That is who his contract was with. Asked about the wifes family and if they were okay. He said the parents left last night and they ended up meeting in Dnipro. The convoy is only for OSCE members but he was able to take some stickers and slap it on their vehicle, they are in the convoy right in front of him now. He's a little irritated that the OSCE loves to take breaks, he's about to just take off without them he says. I told him of the reports that Russia was actually coming across the border now (this came from the Ukrainian President). They are staying away from Odessa and traveling just north of that to Moldova. The last location he gave me was a 9 hour drive to Moldova. If they keep taking breaks like they are, it may take 15 hours for them to get there.

Re: Politics and stuff
I met Billy when we were learning to fly the Aerosonde with Textron. Talked him into joining ootp back in 2015. He ended up taking a contractor job with another company after Textron didn't fulfill what they said when he got hired. He flies unmanned helicopters....well, I guess, he used to fly unmanned helicopters

Re: Politics and stuff
Hopefully he made it through before they advanced through Odessa. When that plan was initially mentioned, I looked at the 2 paths to get to Moldova and was hoping they chose the longer northern route. Good to hear he's at least with a larger convoy that may have some protection. Slick move with the family. Hopefully a non-issue when they get to the border.

Re: Politics and stuff
They are going the north route, on highway E50. I checked it on google maps when I told him how long the drive was, not in a convoy it was 9 hours from where he was when I first chatted with him. He should be pretty close to the border by now, I'll hit him up and see if there is an updateReignOnU wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 9:23 am Hopefully he made it through before they advanced through Odessa. Re: Politics and stuff
Billy said they are 20 minutes from the border and just waiting on clearance to cross. Almost over for him and his family at least
I couldn't imagine traveling that distance in a warzone with a toddler.
Then he tells me that he does the most Billy thing ever.....He placed some bets last night with his bookie...hahahaha Anything to get your mind off the current situation, even if it's just 30 seconds

The Ukrainian Prime Minister tweeted at Elon Musk requesting to get Starkink satellites setup for Ukraine.
10 hours later Elon responded... that Starkink services were setup and active in Ukraine.

Re: Politics and stuff
That's good that they took that route. The southern route was REALLY close. Hoping all is safe today. Do they have a solid plan once they get to Moldova?GeorgesGoons wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 10:57 am Billy said they are 20 minutes from the border and just waiting on clearance to cross. Russians putting their nuclear force on high alert. No clue what step that is prior to launching a nuke. The escalation from Putin is going to send us in a war if this continues for much longer.

I thought I read him and Zelenskyy are meeting today or tomorrow to negotiate?
