apparently im either in tight matchups with my SPs going deep or blow outs or else im firing my non existent coach cause wtf?
7 relievers seems like real overkill in this run scoring environment.
I've got 6, and I've contemplated going to a 5-man pen
Interesting, I've been running a 7 man pen forever. Thought about going to 6.
Yeah, I mean really it depends how deep the starters are going. 4 of mine are at/over 7 IP/GS, so no real need for 7 guys to take care of 2 innings (and extras). My 5th guy is 2 outs short of being at 7/start.
Through 19 games my pen has only thrown 35.1 innings, and 2 of my 6 relievers have a combined 3 IP. If it weren't for options, I'd probably be at 5 relievers

I will sometimes throw in a spot start if I have a stretch of games 13 days in a row and I have a bum team like Cookeville in there

George has a 120 Brain-
This made me lol.
I didn't get it
In FIP-, you want to be below 100 because the lower you are the lower your FIP is which means your pitcher is better (relatively speaking) than league average.
In Brains-, you want to be well above 100 because the higher you are the more brains you have compared to league average.
Typically, you use "-" for something where less is better or "+" for something where more is better. So I don't think you would use Brains-.
As long as we’re all in agreement that not all jokes have to make sense to be funny. But also ... I could of easily said George had 80Brain+ but that sounds meh.. 120Brain- after he just found out lower is better for FIP just sounded funnier
Imagine having to explain a joke. Good times. Now focus your energy less on me and not being replaced soon since you’re a 50gm+ (did I do it right this time?)
That's because ERA+ and ERA- are not the same thing.
ERA+ is the ratio of the League Average Pitcher ERA/One Pitcher's ERA
So for ERA+, above 100 is better because it means the One Pitcher has a lower (better) ERA than the League Average Pitcher
ERA- is the ratio of the One Pitcher's ERA/League Average Pitcher ERA
So for ERA-, below 100 is better because it means the One Pitcher has a lower ERA than the League Average Pitcher
All of this is based on the fact that in baseball, a lower ERA is more desirable. This also works with FIP but there is no FIP+, only FIP- (that follows the same above logic).
Move over to Brains.
If you try to make Brains+/- work like ERA+/- you would do the following:
Brains+ would then mean the ratio of the Average Human/George.
So for Brains+, George would like to see a number that is below 100 because then George's brain is bigger (better) than the Average Human (i.e. he is smarter)
Brains- would then mean the ratio of George/the Average Human.
So for Brains-, George would like to see a number that is above 100 because then Georges brain is bigger (better) than the Average human (i.e. he is smarter)
All of this is based on the premise that "more brains" is more desirable.
