We've been at or near doubling every 2 days for US cases.

Yesterday was the highest additional cases of 10k, but in order to double today compared to 2 days ago we'd need 22k new cases.

I read that it took 67 days to get to 100k total cases worldwide, 11 days to get to 200k, and 4 days to get to 300k.

Guessing it'll be 3 days to 400k which we should hit today.

- Solar/wind tax credits
- Postal service debt relief
- Election law changes
- Carbon emissions testing requirements
- Money for Kennedy Center
- Immigration expansion
- Gov't phone support returned (Obamaphones)
- Community media (newspaper) retirement program
- Min wage increases

I can get with the idea of no stock buybacks and an argument over emergency leave protections, who is getting paid, and other financial issues related to the virus. But this is just mounds of f'n non-sense.
I also saw somewhere that said McConnell was asking for a specific item for him only during this time? I couldn't remember specifically but if thats true

And "shockingly" Democrats will only blast/blame Republicans, and Republicans will only blast/blame Democrats.

The one dude or woman who comes out to blast both sides, all of them, would get a lot of respect.

A couple Dems did that this morning that I saw which was great to see. Manchin from WV was one.

I get it. Its not so completely simple tossing around TRILLIONS of dollars tied to things but the selfish acts they continually show for their own gains aren't put to the side it will never end.

Went on a mission to find the McConnell stuff, haven't found it yet, but sounds like some fuckery he'd partake in. Mnuchin certainly is getting a lot of control out of it.

I did find that the House's proposal blocks members of congress from stock purchases. Definitely something to be considered and addressed... but not right now.

This is the kind of stupidity that makes more people lose faith in the government.

Probably because he's hated from both sides already, lol. Maybe he's the guy we should all be supporting.

I was watching Trump and the team's press conference last night and when a reporter started asking about the package, I thought he might go off about it. I thought his response was really passive compared to what I expected. With each side saying they are close last night, I think we'll get something today. Interested to see what kind of BS is in there that doesn't need to be.

Italy has had 2 straight days of declining new cases and deaths. Hopefully it's the start of a turnaround though we've seen days like that, and then big increases afterwards.

Probably from his optimism about a quick return to work. Sounds dangerous to me. I appreciate what they are saying in concept, that the curve is different for varying parts of the country. But I don't know how practical it is. The way I've looked at this from the start is that the Federal government has issued a 'base line' of actions to follow. At a minimum, all states do X. States then handle it above and beyond that. It's a logical approach imo, but then you get some goofiness like Mississippi.

As for the market... it's likely as much tied to the fact that China released a lot of their lockdown yesterday (today there?).

Another thing to keep in mind over the coming weeks, going 20% down from where we were is greater than going 20% up from where we are. Surely if the economy recovers, Trump is going to tout these 'incredible' improvements day over day.

Noticed that this morning. Also checked out the provincial (I think that's what it was called) map. The area around Milan is very highly concentrated.

Interesting that Switzerland, Germany and a few other close neighbors have had very little death, comparatively.

No idea scientifically how a country with 1.4 billion people have gotten cases to basically none as they are stating after being the epicenter of it all.

They probably are lying so there's that

I saw Shel's mention of the Stanford prof's article (read it as well) and it's the one thing that makes me shrug at it. He's looking at reported data from Jan. But we know there was a massive data dump in Feb and the timelines really aren't clear.

Our county just officially went on a shelter in place.

No idea what that means differently from what we have done the last 2 weeks but it is in place.

India also just went on a 3 week nationwide lockdown. Seems all those discussions we were having about India and Africa are about to come to fruition.

The thing I dont think Americans (or even Canadians) get yet (and I didnt) is when shit htis the fan. Whenever theres an issue someone will fix it.. they always do.

I bring this back to Diabetic medication.. 50 people need or they die.. theres 50 shots at the pharmacy.. Well tomorrow 100 people come in (think ICU).. and they only have 50 shots.. but all 100 need.. Pharmacy will have to pick and choose who doesnt get it and dies unnecessarily.

Thatll be hospitals around the world. The disease might be able to be stopped if you get... if you had a chance to use the machines needed to survive. problem will come when there are more accounts than machines and people die unnecessarily.

That said, all the doom and gloom I spew, I am allll in on the advancements of medicine will be life changing.. maybe even singularity reaching. Think nanobots in our blood stream to detect hidden viruses kinda advancements.

Edit: To show how scary this can be.. Like I said last yr mom hospitalized with H1N1.. her stubbornness made us take her 3-4 days later than we'd of liked.. but the docs told us at the hospital if she came last week they wouldnt of had a bed for her anyways.. When she did go they had her on a bed in the emergency sections hallway.. and that was last year with your annual flu.. not this.
