Page, maybe page and a half.

ahhhhh i love nostalgia.GeorgesGoons wrote:I've never understood the comparison, especially in the playoffs. Jordan was a monster. He didn't have Ice Water running thru his veins he had NITROGEN, he was the better shooter when it came to one shot for the win. He had a will that I don't see nowadays in the NBA.wdoupis wrote:George!!!!!!!!!!!

Hard to compare really with the different styles of 'defense' that was allowed back then. I tend to think a guys like steph curry and westbrook would have found a harder time back in the day as some team goon would be laying him out every game. Lebron would have been fine.

Re: NBA 2016-2017 Thread
Comparing stats for the two is impossible because basketball has changed so much. The hand check rules were such a big change and just the way basketball has evolved now. They both would dominate at any point in basketball history. Jordan was a higher level defender more consistently, had a better mid range game and probably the most competitive guy ever. Lebron runs an offense better, is a better passer and a better 3 point shooter though neither were much to talk about there. Both in their prime and you have to win a series you take Jordan.

he wanted it more!!!wdoupis wrote:Jordan was a higher level defender more consistently, had a better mid range game and probably the most competitive guy ever.

the hand checking points are certainly fair but guys get better, i don't know why we are so opposed to that thinking as a society. we will almost always be better in the future than we are in the past. if we're not then something is going really wrong. people evolve and learn from the mistakes of the past.
the talent of athlete lebron is playing against today is so far superior to what MJ was facing that it certainly should be factored in if you're going to take the 'goons would have crushed him' route.

The illegal defense rule change has a much bigger impact than physical goons and the hand check combined.

Re: NBA 2016-2017 Thread
can you imagine what Lebron would have done to Greg Ostertag on a switched pnr?

Dave and shel are a formidable tag team Billy.
I'd get out while you can as Dave is already going to the "society" lines.

After all, we are undefeated.

Whoa, I never said anything about goons crushing him. Dude is built like a tank, I don't think physicality matters at all to him. I also agree guys are better overall now like in every sport and defense is played at a higher level now than any other time.
I think the hand check rule is a much bigger deal than Shel does and I didn't say he wanted it more. I just said he is the most competitive guy. Does not mean Lebron is not competitive to say Jordan is the most competitive player I have seen.
All that being said, Lebron half assed it game 6 vs Mavs and Celtics and if you watch the games it is not really debatable.

I know, AJ mentioned goons, though not specifically to LeBron.wdoupis wrote:Whoa, I never said anything about goons crushing him
I was just pointing out the physicality was brought up and the hand check was brought up, but those 2 pail in comparison to how much the illegal defense rule changed the game.
And it's not that the hand check is not a big deal on its own, it's just a tiny deal compared to illegal defense rules today compared to the 90s.
Re: NBA 2016-2017 Thread
James Harden averages that, would you say he is also playing hard? Point is, the numbers do not matter as much as watching and seeing he is not 100% in it.
Glad you at least gave me the Mavs game, I was shocked watching the heat accept defeat the entire second half of game 6

Re: NBA 2016-2017 Thread
today i learn that Kerr, Rodman and Pippen are nothing. God some of you jordan nut huggers are odd.
Re: NBA 2016-2017 Thread
I don't know anyone who said Jordan didn't have great players around him, can't have a dynasty without them. Now the fact you included Steve Kerr in that group makes your entire statement seem dumb

I think the reference was to saying MJ had less.
MJ retired, and the next season the Bulls won 55 games.

Re: NBA 2016-2017 Thread
Couple things, Kerr was not their yet for that reference. Next, Scottie is the most underrated player because he played with MJ guys sell him so short. In 94 he should have won MVP and his numbers were basically a "Lebron" season. Do not get carried away with that reference, I am just saying averages lol. I am sure he was not as efficient but I do not feel like looking. Also Bulls were up 3-1 on Knicks and almost made the finals so they certainly had a really good team minus Jordan. I will never say Jordan did not have as much around him as Lebron. To go on top of Scottie they had amazing role players and a coach that was brilliant (I know he looks like a jackass now but try and remember Phil before like 2012)
