I got into some kind of heat the other day and didn't feel like fleeing the cops for 10 minutes so I just dropped a grenade at my own feet and paid the 1500 hospital bill

If you're close to one of the Custom shops, get there w/o the cops seeing you drive in, get a paint job.....$500 and your wanted status goes away.

for taxis. I get bored driving everywhere so i just call for a taxi
Yea, but those are like 200 max. I did the same thing.
You can buy tanks, helis, boats, cars etc. on the internet in the game which get delivered to the garages and hangars and helipads you can buy. Customizing cars can cost 100k plus I believe. You really are perfectly fine with 10 million or so, but if you want to buy everything you'll need upwards of 150 million.

Car theft is a serious problem in Los Santos, but it's turning out to be an even bigger headache for Rockstar Games.
A bug in Grand Theft Auto V is causing cars and car upgrades to disappear when players park vehicles in the game's various garages, which are supposed to be save points. As a result, Rockstar is warning fans not to use those garages until they can solve the problem.

"We have received some reports about problems with cars and garages, particularly after upgrading and then completing a mission, and are looking into this now. Unfortunately, we do not currently have a workaround to recover a car if it is missing," the developer said on its support page. "Please try to avoid parking a car in a garage, driving one already in a garage, or getting in a default vehicle, when playing as a character other than the one with your upgrades."

No one's quite sure what triggers the bug. Rockstar noted it may occur if you drive another character's vehicle (i.e. Franklin taking one of Michael's rides out for a spin).

In the meantime, the company is advising players to sign up for the Rockstar Social Club, which has a separate garage they can store cars in while doing missions. This does not seem to be affected at present.

Also, it appears that if you start a mission with a custom car and fail the mission by destroying that car or dying while you're in it, it can cause the vehicle to disappear. For vehicles lost during a mission, it suggests searching at the mission start point, your safehouse, the mission endpoint or the impound lot.

That's a lot of exploration to find a car, though. And while it might be tempting to buy some fancier wheels for your anti-heroes as you roll around in your post-heist cash reserves like Scrooge McDuck, it may be best to curb those impulses.

For now, at least, real estate seems to be the safer investment.

So has anybody managed to get up to a 6 star wanted level yet? I got up to 5 last night and didn't last long. I stopped at the bottom of an on ramp to the freeway, got out and blasted a couple cars with a grenade launcher to cause a pile up. When the cops showed up, I blasted them too and took off. Before long I had a helicopter tracking me and the black suburbans with guys hanging on the sides chasing me. The first couple times I did this I used a super car to try and outrun them but didn't last long because they just shot the crap out of the car. So then I tried it with a garbage truck. I lasted a little longer but they shot the tires out and I was done.

Five stars is the max I think.

I don't think so. People will have had 2 weeks to play through the storyline and will keep playing when the online comes out. I don't think some people would have played the story if online came out right away. It keeps the game relevant for longer, not to mention gives them time to work out any bugs they may have.

It's losing me already and I'm sure the same is happening for others. I can only take so much running around. I'll still be online when it comes out but I understand where Aj is coming from.

While I hear you guys, I agree with shift.

When COD comes out, I never play the single player game.
I hop right online and start playing.

I think 2 weeks is a good time limit, any more than that, then I agree people will have moved on or got bored.
