Speaking of, when are we going to see the funny Nick who could be a famous comic if he applied himself?nick wrote: you guys need new material
I'm STILL waiting for that guy around here?

Re: ***NFL Playoffs Thread***
I didn't see the play you guys are referring to so I don't know if it was a catch or not. The ball can however touch the ground as long as the refs determine it didn't aid in the catch. If the receiver has possession before the ball touches the ground and he never loses control or the ball doesn't move it can still be ruled a catch.packsyD22 wrote:No the ball can't hit the ground.
"A player who goes to the ground in the process of attempting to secure possession of a loose ball [with or without contact by a defender] must maintain control of the ball after he touches the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone. If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, there is no possession. If he regains control prior to the ball touching the ground, it is a catch, interception or recovery."

Though I will concede that I didn't watch all 37 replays last night, but watching it again this morning, he certainly does not seem to have full possession.
So we were both right...and wrong.

Re: ***NFL Playoffs Thread***
Two easy picks dropped by Aaron Berry (one in the endzone right before half, another in the 3rd went right through his arms) cost the Lions 10 pts, plus another INT which had the look of a pick-6 dropped (although Ill concede the NO WR did a nice job of knocking it out). That being said, holy shit on the 3rd/4th downs. Pretty frustrating to watch as a Lions fan. All season they've gotten pretty good pressure with their front four, but last night Brees had alllllll day to throw, and no corner in the world can cover for that long.
Overall, sucks to see them lose but Ive never been so confident in this team in my life. Hopefully Leshore/Best can get healthy for next season and lock up Calvin for a long term deal. Honestly though as long as Stafford is healthy Im happy

Stafford has really surprised me.
I thought he was a bust waiting to happen and never really thought he would be a solid nfl qb. He is still learning but has made me change my mind o what I thought he would be.
Helps to have Megatron though

I was sold in his first season. After his injuries the first two years and watching the backups play (even watching other QBs in the league not named Brady, Rodgers or Brees), the guy makes throws you just dont see much, 35 yd whole shots down the seam on a rope. Of course as a Lions fan Ive been exposed to a lot of mediocrity, but Ive been more than impressed. I wouldnt trade Stafford for any other QB in the league right now, dude is only 23Cnasty wrote:Stafford has really surprised me.

blowing the whistle on the Brees fumble could have cost DET a touchdown and a ton of momentum, if you want to really look for stuff

As I was reading the first line I was thinking, he has the best WR in the game right now. Then I saw the second line. Hell even Jordan made Luc Longly look like an NBA center.Cnasty wrote:Stafford has really surprised me.

Re: ***NFL Playoffs Thread***
True. But they also could have gotten the fumble right where they got it, considering without the whistle, you wouldn't see pretty much all Saints players walking back to the huddle when the guy picked up the fumble.VeniVediV1ci wrote:blowing the whistle on the Brees fumble could have cost DET a touchdown and a ton of momentum, if you want to really look for stuff
Re: ***NFL Playoffs Thread***
This is true, although Johnson wasnt putting up these numbers when Shaun Hill and Drew Stanton were throwing him passes eitherGeorgesGoons wrote:As I was reading the first line I was thinking, he has the best WR in the game right now.Cnasty wrote:Stafford has really surprised me.

The ball was clearly not possessed before it hit the ground. Of course it can hit the ground after possesion.shel311 wrote:Suck it Pat!!!OracleHCR wrote:I didn't see the play you guys are referring to so I don't know if it was a catch or not. Besides, the Lions came out ahead from the whistle because at the bottom of the screen, this guy was lurking.
