Animal Crossing New Horizons (Nintendo Switch)

Post by jsence2 »

Anybody else playing this? I wasn't sure if I would enjoy the game or not, but I can barely put it down. It was the perfect game at the perfect time for helping fight the quarantine blues. Has allowed me to be goofy as hell with a lot of my friends, is a solid time-sink, and is relaxing as hell. The only stress it has caused (unlike some other games) is having a random person trample my flowers and steal my fruit, and I have this annoying neighbor that I can't get to leave, no matter how many times I beat him over the head with a net

It's a pretty fun game and if anybody else has it, you're welcome to swing by my island, half the fun of the game is building things and giving things away to friends. My friend code for Switch is SW-6550-4047-5816

I am kidding by the way. I know absolutely nothing about this game.
Can you tell me what you do in it?

Doing better than I deserve, can't complain! Got a freelance writing gig with Churchill Downs/BetAmerica last fall that kept me extremely busy until recently (with no sports, no writing, obv) on top of work, but I'm lucky that I was already working from home and our company seems to be in a good position, with 75% of our clients deemed "necessary". We need to catch up soon, congrats on the second child!

Hey, I'm not gonna lie--I had the same thought when I first saw the game. I bought the Animal Crossing Switch because it looked cool, but as I saw more about the game, decided to get it on release. Worth every penny.

Honestly, it's a time sink--but it's fun, it's relaxing, there's no "competing" or anything that will cause you any sort of stress, aside from getting someone on your island you don't like. You basically have your own deserted island to build on--plant trees/flowers, design the layout, fish, collect bugs (you have a legit museum on your island where you display bugs, fish, and fossils you dig up, I just finished my T-rex fossil this morning), build stuff, etc. You have animal neighbors and the owner gives you interest-free loans to build up your house, do different things on the island, etc. There's a lot more, but if you get the game, don't want to spoil it.

Also, it's just one island per Switch--so if you both play on one Switch, you and your son would both have your own homes, but the island would be shared, so you could design it together, make things together, etc.

It legit is a calming, enjoyable game that's letting me keep in touch with people I can't see (like my sister, who is currently quarantined and recovering from COVID), friends I want to just do dumb stuff with, and random people who open islands up to each other for different stores to shop in. Here's a good review of it.

Pre-kids Cnasty would have been LOVING this quarantine with the amount of video game time that would have been put in.

Could you imagine this during the NCAA days? We would have online dynasties advancing 2-3 times a day

Bought my wife Switch Lite and this game. She loves it. She hates video games and for her to get into one, boy it's a relief.

It does cause anger I've seen though. "NOOOOOO" - wife
"What's wrong? You ok?" - me
"I got stung again, damn bees!" - wife
