Every game is going to this mode now, with 2K and Fifa as well.

Between this and the Ultimate Team stuff, I hate it.

Samesies. I guess I don't understand the mode. Is it essentially the same as creating your own player and progressing through draft/career etc (it's been so long I can't even remember the name of the mode) with a more extensive story?

I played it all the way through last night. It was cool but the drills were klunky. It played out more like a movie and some cut scenes were like 10 minutes long. It was a dude from Texas playing QB at UT...so yeah I had to give it a shot.

Yea, very annoying.

FIFA does the same, and my boys love watching it like a movie, but I don't.

I was entertained for a bit. After it was all said and done I ended up getting drafted in the 3rd round by the Cowboys.

The screen shot of a little digital fella in a college football jersey was too much for not to give it a watch.
And then I did :(

The game part of it played more like NCAA than Madden. I was hooked.....no pun intended....maybe a little.

Absolutely no way I could play it during that time frame. Way too boring with the long ass cut scenes with no user input. It was like watching a bad movie where you hate all the characters.

Watching others play 18, I do not see any noticeable difference in the game

most of the game is pretty similar to last years but its different in subtle ways... the game is really good. running is different, the blocking is different. there are a lot more drops on hits after catch unless you protect ball. lot more fumbles if rb doesn't protect ball. stuff like that.

madden has been awesome the last few years. i agree FIFA and 2k are better, but Madden is right up there

Last year, as long as you played straight, the game plays super realistic against the CPU IMO.

I remember the last I played, I started a franchise with the Saints where I played offense only and super simmed defense. Played 2 games, Brees averaged about 320 yards per game and had 6 TDs/1 INT in the 1st 2 games. Early in game 3 he was injured, and in came McKown, and my passing stats were entirely mediocre the next 4 games as I lost 3 of 4 because my offense couldn't keep up with my shitty defense.

Playing it was like watching a hallmark channel movie.

Hahaha, I was actually going to write this in a comment! I didn't mind it actually, but it was slow in some parts, and it was kind of a silly ending..just over? It would of been fun if it would of let you have more say in the story line and more of the game line of things.

I like the game, a little more realistic this year, the injuries are crazy though haha.
Season 25 NCAA - New Mexico Lobos 5-7
Season 26 NCAA - Arizona Wildcats 11- 3 (Pac 12 Champions, Rose Bowl Champions)
Season 1 Madden - Seattle Seahawks 12-4 NFC Champoinship game (lost)
Season 27 NCAA - Texas Longhorns 9-4 (Alamo Bowl champs vs USC)

Yeah the injuries are crazy. Realistic though. Playing with Tampa, I lost Doug Martin on the very first play of the preseason. He came back the second game of the regular season and got injured in the 3rd quarter. He came back in the 8th game and was injured in the second qtr and was out for the game. He got injured in every game he played in and didn’t finish any of them. The 12th game he got injured and put out the rest of the season. Winston has missed 6 games, Evans and Jackson have each been put out for extended stints and every single one of my linemen have all been out for a few games. I had to get a 4th hb since all of the others were out for at least a couple games and I had to pull a wr off the practice squad. And all of that is just on offense. Just about everybody on defense has been injured at some point during the season as well.
As I said: realistic.
