NDL Board PRIVLEGES policy

Post by ajalves »

Gentlemen,

We have never had a formal boards access privileges policy but it appears we are in need of one.

Access to the NDL Boards are a privilege not a right. More so, it is a privilege for being an active member of NDL.

In the beginning, you weren’t even allowed to see the NDL boards unless you were a member.

In efforts to share with recruits how great this league is, we moved to allowing the ability to view it for anyone on the intarwebz.

For quite some time we allowed all NDL'ers, current and former, to retain rights (privileges) to the boards.

At a time of high attrition and lack of respect for the league, we had a slew of mid-season quits. From there we decided that any member who quits NDL midseason will NOT continue to have the right to boards access.

Moving forward around Season 12 it was decided that only active participating members (with a few grandfathered exceptions) would have boards access and that others would not.

This was NOT done to spite anyone stepping away from the league but to solely force each person to really think about what they are giving up as they force admin to have to replace them and the league to suffer slightly as we have turnover and we as admins must consider what is best for the NDL as a league to keep it moving forward and having it continue to flourish.

Our official policy is this;

NDL Boards privileges shall be automatic to all participating members of NDL. (If you have a team, you have boards access)

Anyone who does NOT have a team will have their privilege revoked.

They as anyone else, can still VIEW the boards but can no longer participate or post.

Anyone who does not have privileges CAN file an appeal.

Appeals are just that. It will be determined on a case by case basis as objectively as possible if access will be granted.

The committee which decides on the appeals will make all judgments based on one simple criterion; What is best for the League?

There are many factors that can play into the decision. Is it good for league morale based on all determining factors involving the coach? Is it setting a precedent? (among others)

The bottom line is from a league management view, we are just trying to creating an environment where we have a low turnover ratio (in terms of people leaving) and doing what’s best for the league.

Appeals should be sent via email to the appeals chairperson at carnegie.josh@gmail.com

The appeal should basically explain why they can no longer coach a team and why they think they should be allowed to have privileges.

Just an update on this policy, we are currently working on a more current one at the moment. I will not be deactivating anyone that doesn't partiscipate in Season 28.
