New Orleans!
My wife and a couple friends are thinking of taking a trip to New Orleans for St. Patty's Day.
We went to Vegas last year, but this year are thinking of going as we have never been there before.
Any suggestions if we do go?

Stay at Royal Sonesta
GO to Bourbon Street, duh.
Eat at Cafe du Monde.
Walk around the entire French Quarter...during the day lol.
Eat at basically any seafood place in the Quarter, they're all solid.

There are 2 W's in New Orleans. One in Quarter the other just outside. Both are nice properties and reasonably priced when its not Mardi Gras. The W off the quarter has a restaurant around the corner called Mothers. Amazing bfast food and really good dripped beef type stuff. Also, pay attention to the local when they order and folow suit. Its a little like the soup Nazi from Seinfeld. But the food is money.

Re: New Orleans!
My buddy and I ate at Bubba Gumps while we were there. It was fantastic and the atmosphere was pretty cool. People dress up like crazy and have a great time. It gets a little sketchy at night the further you are away from the french quarter so be careful where you walk around LOL.

Re: New Orleans!
Thanks for the info guys.
If anyone has any more, please, keep telling me.
I have never been there and if I go, it is nice to know a few things.
LGF, nothing against you, but I don't want to go to a chain like Bubba Gumps when I am there. I want to eat at places I can only get while in New Orleans.

Re: New Orleans!
ACME Oyster house is pretty chill. Its in the Quarter also.
Re: New Orleans!
LOVE NOLA. Hit bourbon street fo sho. Have hand grenades and every bar also has 3 for 1s almost every night. I like red fish grill, acme is solid too. Mother's is supposed to be the tits, I tried out parkway bros. bakery ridiculous Po Boys we went twice. Just cab there it's a little out of the way north of bourbon area. I've also heard good things about Domilise's which is out of the way too, they won the best po boy in a blind taste test on the travel channel, we tried to go but it was closed on sundays. Beanie's Seafood down by the water also is a must checkout if you the time. Best food int he world down there IMO try a 1/4 muffaletta in the quarter too if you're on a food excursion. If you gamble i'd suggest not going to harrah's they rake weird on poker and the limits were a little high for my taste on table games, try one of the parked river boats off the water outside of town.

Dave since you're really familiar with Nola I'd love To hear some places you really like to eat at down there.
Re: New Orleans!
assuming you're staying near Bourbon St, most of my favorite stuff in new orleans is uptown but i'm not sure if you'll be headed there at all
best burgers at Port of Call
poboys at Mothers
new orleans food at http://www.jacquesimoscafe.com/ (this isn't in the quarter but probably the best place to try, lines are long but the street is really cool with bars and lounges nearby to grab a beer while you wait)
charbroiled oyesters at Dragos
beignets at Cafe Du Monde
brunch at Brennans on Royal or Rib Room
anything pork at Cochon

Re: New Orleans!
Dude, just give me 3 days in my house to myself, and I'd strongly consider that over some crazy, awesome 1 week stay in Fiji
3 days, that's all I ask.

consider it? fiji has nothing on 3 days of house to yourself time. the fact you'd even compare to two are pretty silly

Definitely must try a Lucky Dog or two....
