Probably waiting on Black Friday to buy the monitor and storage- those are things that usually go on sell for Black Friday

Hopefully i can snag a GPU at MSRP on black friday- that would be great

Got my case, RAM and PSU in this week. CPU should be here today.

Really hoping for Black Friday/ Cyber Monday to come through to get some storage and a monitor. Don't think Black Friday is going to affect GPU prices as much sadly

I think the only question you need to answer for your keyboard/monitor is whether you do wireless or not. I think there is a lot of benefit to wireless just to avoid the extra USB cables and make it easier to manage, but some people don't like to deal with replacing batteries (I just run rechargeable batteries so I don't mind).

Are you going double monitor or one larger monitor?

I think it was late last year that I picked up this one from Costco:
https://www.costco.com/acer-nitro-28%22 ... 81497.html

It might not be the top-top end gaming monitor but I have found it works great for what I need at home. I also bought a basic arm mount that freed up a good amount of space on my desk and made it easier to position the monitor as needed:

Probably wireless for keyboard and mouse

Going to go one monitor for right now- currently looking to get a 1440p monitor IPS monitor with 144 hz

Got a 2 TB M.2 SSD a couple of days ago as well- need to add that to the list

Returned my 6800 XT and got a 6900 XT for $50 more. Pretty stoked. Also got a solid monitor.

Really just need a motherboard and I can start building.

Are you getting a static free mat to use when building this? Or is this even a thing anymore when building computers? I remember reading about them in the early 00's, not sure if they were snake oil or not

I use a static wrist strap. Never used a mat.
You really only need it when putting the CPU in and the RAM Memory.
And I forgot about the NVMe M.2 SSD drives, would use it when installing that too.

This is what I use:

Curious....

How much did you spend on your whole setup? Also, how much would a comparable computer cost if you just bought it from the store.

I think I tallied it up and it was around $1750. This is 100% from scratch, I didn't have even a mouse that I could use. I probably could have gone cheaper, with worse GPU and less quality parts, but I wanted something that would last.

Most prebuilts that I could find close to my specs are around $2,250- $2,500, which is just the computer and doesn't include peripherals like monitor, keyboard mouse etc

That said I definitely took full advantage of Black Friday sales.
