And I'm asked why I don't watch NBA, even playoffs. I've tried, but not a single game has held my interest longer than 1 quarter. I'll try again when it's the finals, but I'm not holding my breath.

Honestly if you aren’t a fan of any of these 4 teams, these games have been pretty bad entertaining wise in the conference finals.

I’m glued to it with of course being a Heat fan and pulling for Luka and the local squad.

It's just a bad stretch, definitely not normal by NBA playoff standards.

I read that in the last 17 games in these playoffs, the average margin of victory has been 19 points. But again, that isn't a typical playoffs where there are usually a ton of games coming down to the wire.

Even the Mavs-Suns series that was close the entire way and went 7 games but no games went down to the wire and the final 3 games were decided by 30, 27, & 33 points. It was one of the least exciting 7 game series I've watched.

I think that's exactly it. All of these blowouts and I'm just not able to stay in it. I do enjoy some playoffs, no matter which sport really, but the atmosphere that comes with these NBA games, especially last night in Boston, is pretty cool to see.

I think it is more of an anomaly as this playoffs has been really bad with blowouts but maybe as the volume of 3 point attempts keep going up this is how we will see it as more than ever it is about making or missing open 3s. I hope not but outside of a few series it has been so bad with blowouts. Only series that were high level competition for most of it was Grizz/GS, Boston/Bucks, Pels/Suns, and Jazz/Mavs. I did not watch much Raps/Philly but that was mostly tight as well.

I think we are headed for a Boston/GS finals and I think that would be really really good.

I've been like a broken record all playoffs. But I feel on some level all the schemes/rotations/etc, part of me wonder how important all of that is as it seems like so many of these games simply come down to which team misses a shit ton of wide open 3s while the other team makes their wide open 3s at a decent to good clip.

I know it sounds crazy but time to revamp the scoring system. Instead of 2s and 3s make it 3s and 4s and we devalue the 3. Lets goooooooooo

you definitely dont want Derozan on the Bulls then

Off topic, imagine the NFL implemented rules that gave more points for a longer touchdown..

Right now a 3 is worth 50% more than a 2. If you make it 3s and 4s then the shot is only 33% more valuable and it changes the math and makes the non 3s more valuable. I heard this from Theo Epstein talking to some NBA analytics guy on a podcast but can't remember which one.

Most games turn into a 3 point contest and it definitely waters down a lot of the watchability and fun factor if you will.

Painful to watch at times really.

I don't like the scoring change, but I wouldn't mind seeing the shot clock reduced to 16 seconds. It won't cause a huge impact on the overall outcome of games, but will limit the possessions where there's significant backside ball rotation.

16...sheesh

The offense will just be iso or 1 P&R and that's it. Not good.

I absolutely love the NBA so I am fine with no changes but it would be nice to reverse the trend of teams shooting 35 threes a game.

i would just get rid of the 3 pt line or make it deeper. but hard with the corner 3 cause of lack of space

Why not just have the line terminate at the out of bounds boundary, like you see in driveways/parks with a smaller slab?

Loving this conversation. The take on the 3 pt and 4 pt shot makes sense. But then you'd devalue all the previous generations of scoring leaders
